BrianFaePerth
Would rather a Mosque than a Mecca Bingo [see what I did there?] but I would, if I were a nearby resident, oppose any plan that would increase traffic &/or people movement and noise around my neighborhood as it would de-value it. It's a safe bet that the mosque being there in the first place will have lowered the value of your property. Link to comment

Henry
Construction work on a £1.5m mosque and community centre in Aberdeen is under way. The Alhikmah mosque on Nelson Street will be used by many of the city’s 4000 Muslims when it opens later this year. A fundraising campaign has so far raised £625,000 to support the community-led development. A spokesman said: “Masjid Alhikmah will feature space for worship, funeral preparations, dedicated women’s facilities and a family community centre. “There is an active Muslim community living in and around the city of Aberdeen and the facility is designed to help create unity and foster a sense of harmony between Muslims and fellow north east residents. “The name chosen for the new Aberdeen centre stems from Arabic. Masjid translates as ‘a place of congregational worship’ and Alhikmah as ‘wisdom’.” Link to comment
daytripping
Nelson street used to have good football pitches for school games, now a mosque and police station, the green areas of the city centre are disappearing. Couldn't they have built it in one of the estates rather than so central, traffic on Fridays and parking there will be manic. Link to comment
