forbesz1903
always felt we should have pushed the boat out to sign Ferne Snoyl, I thought he was a brilliant player, but he hasn't really gone on to do anything of note so perhaps not. Link to comment
OddJob
Patrice Loko was someone Ebbe was looking at, I seem to remember Loko had an Icons.com (or similar) website at the time where he was commenting on how Aberdeen had been in contact with him and how keen he was to join. That one didn't come off for some reason. I'm sure i remember reading that he had a nervous breakdown or something Link to comment

boboisared
No, the biggest 'miss' by AFC is surely Dennis Law? Also, we should have signed Shaun Maloney (too small apparently). Link to comment
Byrne Baby Byrne
Just think, we paid 100 grand for Tommy Wright, whose level is somewhere around the English Conference. That's 2 Ferrie Boddes. We refused to pay 50k for Bodde who by all accounts is a good quality player.Reminds me of Bisconti leaving. He was a quality player. One of the best midfielders I've seen in an AFC shirt (at 26 I haven't exactly seen many great ones though). I remember he wanted an extra 30k a year in his contract to put his kids to a French school or something? We said nit, fell out with him and released him early then not long later spent 80 fecking grand on Jamie McQuilken who was utter fucking shite. Should have just kept Jamie McCallister who went on to have a good career. Didn't Bisco end up playing for Lille and Belgium? Link to comment

I think the club were happy just to be shot of him and his attitude by the end. Apparently he left the house/flat the club leased (or whatever the hell they do) in a disgusting mess. Link to comment

Frank Butcher
Paul lambert was a name I recall being linked too us plenty of times, before he went to Dortmund Tosh McKinley & Campbell Money, we where close to signing both, but got Mckimmie & Theo instead. pretty sure Ian Ferguson was another we wanted/tried to sign. The Hulk
Wasn't it in Fergie's autobiography that an attempt to sign a very young Davor Suker c1985 was thwarted by red tape? Link to comment
Byrne Baby Byrne
Jamie McAllister was fucking shite. He was absolutely dire for us!! He seemed to improve at Livi, Hearts & Bristol City. Maybe getting binned by us was the boot up his arse he needed. So, aye, if we kept him he'd of probably just stayed shite Link to comment
WillemVan
Agreed, Jamie McAllister was rank for us. Every time he played a ball forward down his line it would end up in the South Stand. Link to comment

ericblack4boss
is it correct Ollie that he comes form a tim minded family that wouldnt allow him to sign for us. though the other story is we turned him down saying he'd never make it because he was too small. Link to comment

Sheeptastic
I am sure I read that Aberdeen had agreed a fee of around 800,000 for John Robertson, but signed Shearer instead. I think it’s in Miller autobiography. We were linked with David Rocastle (spelling) in the mid 1990’s. The one that gets me is Christophe Cocard – Ebbe wanted him on trail he refused and signed for Killie. Then scores on his debut against us! Emeka Andersen - Bronby goalkeeper who played in the Champions League. Apprantly he wanted too much money. Ebbe had agreed a fee with Rangers for our now current manager. Deal fell through over personal terms. Edit: There was a cracking player Jimmy tried to sign - Delaboom (spelling) he went on to have a good career in Holland.Think it was Romano Denneboom? Only reason I say that is because I signed him on FM. Not sure if anyone has mentioned it but Jimmy also had a pop at trying to get Florent Sinama-Pongolle in? Then of course there was the likes of Garry O'Connor and Kris Boyd. Pele Paterson tried to bring in Nacho Novo before he went to the old Rangers. Link to comment
ChutneyLove
I remember in the early 80s there being a fuss about some twat called Sigi Johnsen (sp). Went on for yonks. I think he broke a leg or something before The Dons were going to sign him. He might have ended up at Utd or something years later, and he was shit? Link to comment
