OddJob
I have no idea if this guy is any good but given our record of bringing in english journeyman types he is probably dog dirt. Just think 25 years ago we were signing Nicholas, Gillhaus, Snelders etc. Now we are signing hoofball type donkeys from the nether regions of english football. Very very sad. And the winner of "worst post of the year" goes to................................. Link to comment
Poodler
I've nothing against signing 4th Division players... but young, up-and-coming players with a future and development ahead of them would be my stipulation. 28 years old and playing 4th Division football leaves little in the way of potential for this guy. What the fuck ever, Aberdeen. EDIT: I'm getting the fucking puppets oot to properly express my displeasure. GET THE PUPPETS OOOOOOTTTTT!!!! Link to comment
Rubinho Escocia
I'm with Kelt in that I think Aberdeen just have no direction/strategy and seem to go round in circles with their managerial appointments and signings. This signing does nothing to convince me that we've learned anything from the past or that we'll make much progress this year. Anyway, looking at wikipedia he's done very well goal scoring wise in League two, but struggled in League one to date. However, the style of football down there is less skillful and more physical so hopefully he can have some success using that aspect up here, and can offer something different to McGinn when in games we're struggling in. SupportmeansSUPPORT
Out of respect for my source I will not. He's no one that anyone will have heard of anyway. He's played only a handful of games. Also, source didn't elaborate on what stage we were at with negotiations. Player also appears to be under contract too - so it may well be a loan. I'll let you know if I hear anything. Wouldn't happen to be Luke Daniels the 3rd choice keeper at West Brom would it? Link to comment
King Street Loon
Anyone else heard the Redtv interview with him?The interviewer is speaking really slowly and making his words prnounced. Zola speaks better than him. Link to comment

Guest
This is where we're at chaps.... the days of signing BIG players (in terms of stature, not size), are long gone. Our budget dictates that we can't afford household names. That said, I'm sure if McInnes wanted a proven striker, he could have used his pot of spare cash to buy one. I guess he sees the need to bolster his midfield as priority No1 though, seeing as we extended McGinn's contract and he was banging them in last season. I see the ability to create more chances as our main task... hopefully Flood, Robson, Hayes and Wylde if he signs, will fill that void. Anyway, anyone who scores a decent amount of goals, regardless of what league they are in, is an asset in my books. The The Rangers just signed up a decent lad in Nicky Clark, who was playing a league far inferior to Burton. I'd have taken Nicky Clark, but rather have someone with a bit of presence to boss defenders about. Welcome Calvin Zola. Link to comment

Dandyesque
Most unaffected "football star" I've ever met...could do it in the boozer same as on the pitch...an absolute gentleman. Agree with this as a fresh-faced young student, i worked behind the bar in The Bells, which was a far more popular bar than now. while the likes of Jess and Booth were holding court with the ladies in the lounge bar, Ricco was more likely to he found quietly sinking 6 pints of guinness in the public bar with his mates. super_al
Just watched some youtube footage of him. He has scored some cracking goals over the years. He scored a peach against Oxford and Bradford (play offs) last season. Link to comment
starryfish
He seems to be quite a physical player and I worry that our dick head referees will mark him out and book him or red card him more often than necessary. Link to comment
diamondsr4ever
its not a bad signing, looks big, powerfull and what little ive seen of him, I think the SPL is right up his street, has an eye for goal. good luck Calvin Link to comment

Dandie1992
Was a donkey for Crewe, but I have faith in Derek. Wylde + A Peter Kjaer along with a couple of low risk bargains and that'll be grand Link to comment

Crossbow
Looking forward to seeing him in action, physically man handling & bullying defenders. Followed by the red card and the bad reputation that physical players for the dons get. Hopefully not another Tommy Wright. He doesn't need to bully defenders - he just needs to be a mobile physical presence. As a purchase it is okay - youtube goals don't show everything, Darren has some good ones as does Bebo but they also have major faults. Time will tell. I wish him every success but he'd do well to keep his head down around the high calibre and impartial referees in the SPL. Link to comment
V for Vendetta
An interesting signing and one we need to wait and see how he makes an impact in the SPL. Does this mean either Magennis or Fallon may be leaving? (as the 2 more physical strikers in the squad) Or perhaps the plan is not to use Magennis up front? Link to comment

ollie1903
Fallon is thankfully long gone. Ridiculously, we gave Magennis another year to see if he can be equally as bad in another new position as he has been in every other position we have tried to get him to play in. Link to comment
