Dons Nostalgia Night - Fri 23Rd August

Recommended Posts

Dons Supporters Together have organised a "Dons Nostalgia Night" at Pittodrie on Friday 23rd August 2013 at 7.30pm - see link below:

Video footage of many of the Dons highlights from the 70's & 80's will be shown, in addition to a buffet, quiz, raffle and appearances from ex Dons players from this era - Willie Mller & Neil Simpson are coming along and we are still working on getting more ex-players along too. Fellow Dons fan John McRuvie will be the MC for the evening.

All proceeds from the evening will go to the Dons Youth Development fund.

So, please "spread the word" to fellow Dons fans you may know, and come along and re-live this "Golden Era" for AFC and help raise money to hopefully gain some new “Glory Days” in the future!!

You could probably do something like this as well if you put your mind to it RTYD.

Had thought about it but can't be arsed. I dinna believe in getting involved in this type of thing. I'll leave it to Willie.

If WIllie Miller is organising this like he did for the Gothenburg night in the Treetops back in May it'll be a magic night.

Willie's organisation skills for that night were astoundingly spectacular.

It's actually Dons Supporters Together (DST) who are organising the night, and we are aiming for a night (very nearly) as good as the one at the Treetops in May, which most of the DST board attended. The main event of the evening will be showing video footage from the 70s & 80s, re-living all those cup wins, league wins, regular victories over the Old Firm etc. Appearances on the night from Willie Miller, Neil Simpson & Brian Irvine (working on getting 2-3 other ex-players coming along too).

So, visit the DST website and get your tickets and spread the word to your Dons supporting mates, both young and old, and get them along too!!

A bit of in house irony there my friend. We all know who is organising it.

Unfortunately, we have had to postpone the Nostalgia night arranged for Friday 23rd August as we have encountered a couple of significant logistical problems and, rather than trying to muddle through, we have decided it would be best to postpone the event for the meantime.

Whilst the tickets sold would have been ok to use on the re-arranged date, we have refunded all ticket monies received to keep things as clean as possible and apologise to everyone concerned for any inconvenience caused.

As the purpose is to have a great night watching AFC thrash the "OF as was" and others, and, specifically to raise funds for the AFC Youth Development programme, we still hope to hold the event in the future.

If the issues can be overcome, we are hopeful of re-arranging it for October, but this may ambitious.

However, it may be hard to find an available date at that time and so, we would appreciate your thoughts as to: would you be likely to attend such an event; how many attendees should realistically be possible for such an event; when would be the best time to hold such an event e.g. February as that tends to be a quiet period etc etc?

Just before we win the league this season would be ideal. End of April.
