If anything Henman over-achieved. He was pish! (By Grand Slam winning standards). On that note, is he growing on anyone else? I dinnae mind him so much now that I don't have to put up with 'Henmania' every June. ...beaten to it! Link to comment
ericblack4boss
have to say I enjoyed his commentary at Wimbledon very succinct, spot on observation and didn't talk too much hate to admit it but I rated him Link to comment

ericblack4boss
RS I don't think I am being too course, Westwood has come out and said it doesn't bother him whether he wins or not, fair enough but can he relay this to the press, and pundits who forever hype him up.That kind of DILLIGAF attitude is exactly why he will never win a major the difference between him and mickelson in attitude was the reason one finished as winner and the other finished tied for third,Mickelson came out and said how much he has wanted this title and his desire was there for all to see. Bluto10
henman wasnt that good a player tbh. no shocks that he never won a slam. in football the biggest culprits are the dutch.not many countries if any can match they consitent level of producing players but on trophy is cscant return for a nationa that produced cruyff and van basten.[mind you in anotehr world theyd have as many world cups as germany]. Monkey
The likes of RS and other golf aficionados are better placed to answer this but is Monty an underachiever? 8 European order of Merits, Three consecutive PGA Championships, 31 European Tour victories, ( 4th most in history ) World no 2 ranking. 5 time Major runner up. Information courtesy of Wikipedia So I suppose the question is does failing to win a major, or your sports blue ribboned events make you an underachiever? Or is the issue that they had the talent and ability to do it but never did. Link to comment
tightbreeks
frank bruno!! he did win the wbc, but that was gift. Link to comment
Jonty
Surely The Rangers warrent a mention!? Spent more money than anybody outwith Celtic in Scotland, yet got less points in 3rd f4cking Division than QOTS managed in the 2nd. Not even a Ramsdens F4ckin Cup to show for their efforts either. Pathetic. 1 Link to comment

ericblack4boss
RS have to agree regarding Greg norman was a favourite of mine when I was growing up, along with Olazabal, Nick Price two other golfers who despite winning what they did could have achieved more I think though Link to comment
ChutneyLove
Trevino for creating shots. And he was an entertainer. With his background he probably over-achieved though. Link to comment
tightbreeks
norman was awesome with the persimmon. dunhill cup, 18th tee, into the grey skies. the ball never got above 20feet for 150yds and then just back spun into the sky. ah, the old days! Link to comment
Bluto10
are they?really though? i think in the 70s and 80s they werent really a 'big' club. take a look at their back catalogue; its nae exactly chocca with great teams or players. Link to comment
Ke1t
Definitely Giant Haystacks. Was clearly a superior wrestler to Big Daddy, but for some unfathomable reason Haystacks could never beat the smaller, inferior 'Big Daddy' during what was truly the high tide mark of British wrestling. Link to comment
caledonia
Greg Norman was THE best ball striker I ever saw. Not my favourite golfer. That was Tom Watson. But as a hitter of a golf ball, he was clearly the best. The rest never came close. He was the best of my generation. I never saw Hogan. watson was my 2nd favourite golfer after lee trevino Link to comment

The Boofon
Lee Trevino was in my dream last night - could only be because of this thread. Scary, I'm dreaming the Hat. Probably more related to the upcoming 18 holes with a putter round of golf than anything else. How many holes are we up to anyway? Link to comment
ChutneyLove
Maybe so - I could invite Lee Trevino - though I don't think he'd be that impressed with our current 12 or 13 holes. Link to comment
