madjockmcferson
So, assuming Hamilton have a sell on clause does this make them favorites to finish 2nd next year? Given the lack of money in the SPHell could they be challengers? it wouldn't take much given the absolute shite that is in the league at present. 1 5 Link to comment

I would have thought they're still paying for their new 'stadium' and that any proceeds would go towards clearing that debt. Link to comment
muttonhumper
How much do they stand to gain? 20% according to this. http://www.cheshire-today.co.uk/20539/everton-agree-fee-for-wigans-james-mccarthy/ So £3 million if it's £15M fee, but appears to be reported more as £12.5M.So £2.5 million anyway. Robbie Winters
Was it McCarthy or McArthur who stayed at Hamilton to better himself for one more year before jumping down to England and at the same time doing hamilton a big favour ?Just shows that patience is a virtue if it was McCarthy and you don't need to leave Scotland straight away. Scottish clubs are investing more into youth and as a short term business it makes sense.Stop signing stupid big, injury prone, shot shy boys from the lower end of guff football and totally work on developing your own. 1 Link to comment
Byrne Baby Byrne
It was McArthur who stayed another year. Annoyed by how well McCarthy has come on. Any time he speaks it enrages me. There is nothing Irish about him. 3 Link to comment

madjockmcferson
Clearly, I don't give a duck about Hamilton. People in Hamilton don't give a fuck about Hamilton. I suspect it'll go towards their youth development and they won't waste it......if it was us I suspect we would waste it. Anyhows, I think this gives them a chance to establish themselves in the SPHell, which is significant for them. Link to comment
Site Sponsor RTYD Posted September 3, 2013 Site Sponsor Share Posted September 3, 2013 I think they get £1M. Decent though. Link to comment
Henry
Clearly, I don't give a duck about Hamilton. Aye, it should give them the chance to have a quack at winning the SPFL. Link to comment
ericblack4boss
well lets hope that we had the foresight to insist on a sell on clause for Fraser, Fyvie and Grimmer. Link to comment

Ke1t
well lets hope that we had the foresight to insist on a sell on clause for Fraser, Fyvie and Grimmer. Unlikely, given they left for nominal development compensation at the end of their contracts, rather than transfered for a profit with conditions. Link to comment
madjockmcferson
I don't think Hamilton need to spend big to get into Europe, given how shite everyone else is. A little money can go a long way in the SPHell, just look at ICT and Ross County. If St J can get in then no reason Hamilton can't. Link to comment
RUL
Hamilton really pocketing £2.5M? Brilliant for them. Link to comment

Ryan Fraser was transferred for a fee, and we did negotiate a sell on clause with Bournemouth. This was a main factor in letting him go at the time and not waiting until his contract was up >>> having to go down the compensation route. Link to comment

They were sold around 6 months before their deals were up. Unlike Maguire and Aluko. Link to comment

Even then there is still scope for negotiation rather than paying the full compensation required. Link to comment
