I have been greatly affected by this strike, I had to hear about the effects and stuff and details of their pension which is better than mine.

 

£500k pot is pretty shit but 90% of the time they do fuck all. Not so ignorant to think they do nothing but all that cash could buy a lot of smoke detectors. Could even pay for them to moonlight as rape alarms when off shift.

The private sector now have to work till about 67 then retire on a pittance unless they've saved loads, the firemen are just being brought into the real World, they're still getting to retire early but with people living longer they're having to move with the times like everyone else. If the money was there to pay them all in retirement then fine but it isn't, same as everyone else.

The 'real world' is fucked though.

 

The only reason we have to work into old age for a pittance of a pension is because our government(s) insist on spending billions on war mongering and yet continue to allow big corporations to pay NO tax.

 

We as the plebs, end up fighting between us for the scraps.

there's hardly a lack of people lining up to join either, proving these jobs are like gold dust. You'd think people would be happy to have a good job with a good pension and get to retire earlier than most people, but no - lets go on strike.

The teachers were bad as well when they wanted to go on strike. Most of them are hopeless at their job, get to work 9-3:30 mon-fri, get an hour for dinner, 15 minutes for a tea break and they're on holiday for a third of the year and at the best times to be on holiday as well.

True though. Half the teachers at my school were awful, one of them even fell asleep all the time. PE was particuarly bad, they didn't teach you anything at all and we never had school teams right through the 80s owing to industrial action. Public sector workers shouldn't be allowed to strike.

Every teacher expects you to get the violin out, we do marking and work long hours blah blah blah, it's like they're trying to convince people they have a hard time of it when in reality we know they have great jobs with short hours and holidays galore.

 

Off for another fortnight soon, they've just came back from 6 weeks of Summer.

agree that striking by these public sectro folk is out of order to the point where its downright ungrateful..

theyre generally comfortable, well paid jobs. for life.
