But even there... a 3 year deal for him? I know keepers have a longer career... but seems a bit much when he's not the best keeper on the planet.

Langfield being extended until 2016 is a strange one. I would've thought an extension until 2015 would suffice.

It's not a 3 year deal for Langfield and Hayes through. It's only really a 2 year extension signed six months early.

Good news with regards to Hayes and Pawlett.

 

On current form, i'm also happy with Langfield staying a bit longer. Very much doubt he'll still be first choice by the time his contract is up though, but for now - he's good enough.

Club actually planning long term for change great stuff. But simply cannot understand the Langfield contract extending to age 36. He is at best club he ever will be right now and no need for such a deal at all, whether think he deserves a new deal or not.

 

But hey hoh - stuck with him now and jut have to hope form keeps up but personally worry about him.

Great news re Pawlett and Hayes. Langfield depends on whether he's seen as long term Number 1 or someone else is lined up.

Good news about Hayes and Pawlett. Fair enough Langfield being kept on. He gets a lot of stick mostly from our own fans, some of it is justified while some of it is a bit OTT when you wonder if it was someone who was more liked wouldn't get such blame for certain things. 1 year extensions for players in mid thirties should be the policy however.

 

Would also expect us in the next 12-18 months to do some really hard scouting towards finding a long term number 1. Don't know enough about the young lad Rogers to say whether or not he can make the step up which would obviously be ideal

To be fair to Mckinnes Langfield's arse hasn't completely fallen out in a big game knock out competition costing his team mates, the fans and the club another taste of glory on his watch........yet.

Without question.

 

The only thing that's been keeping him on his toes recently is his expiring contract.

 

Expect relaxed, half hearted performances for another 2 years.

Over all I'm pretty happy about this. It's great to have some stability at the club. There was a few years when it was hard to keep up with who was playing for us with all these 1 and 2 year contracts.

 

Langfield has earned a new contract but 3 years... wow. Hope it isn't going to turn out like the 3 year deal Mackie was handed in 2009(ish?) after a run of form.

I'd say in the last few years Celtic have overtaken Dundee United as Langfield's favourite team so I think it's a certainy!
