Laphroaig and Ardbeg are well known and tasty.

I stopped drinking whisky after downing a bottle at break neck speed at a party. It tasted like wine, such was my inebration.

After attempting to walk the 7 miles home; no taxis to be had for love nor money, I was woken by the police while sleeping on a grass verge at the side of the road who informed me it was -2 and I would die.

They gave me a lift home and advised me to trace my family tree as an alternative to wasting my life away in the persuit of alcohol consumption.

Point is - Whisky is dangerous. Avoid.

Further proof that ACAB.

Scapa 14 year old and Jura 16 are superb.

New tastes to me, recommended by good guys and I'm loving them muchness.

Jura, which rates high in many many so called experts lists, I purchased the 1ltr Jura superstition at the duty free travelling home from work a few months ago.

I tried to like it, but no, I found it truly terrible.

Jura 16 is £48 a bottle. You get what you pay for. Never tried the cheaper Jura products.

Been trying to get into whisky over a few years now not found one i really like yet and I havent tried any of those mentioned.

Will pick up a bottle of Jura on the way home i think any special age i should go for ????

My wife and I drank a bottle of whisky every 12 to 18 months i.e. we hardly drank the stuff.

Then my local wines and spirits shop got me to taste Bruichladdich XVII. I bought another the next month and ended up getting 5 bottles in 5 months. He said "that must have switched your whisky light on" and he was absolutely correct. However, not only was it getting harder to get, I gone off it. Probably overdid it so I buy about 6 to 8 bottles a year now. I love getting recommended good ones and I can't recommend Scapa enough, although it's tough to get too. I know the Whisky Shop at Gatwick has it so I'll get a couple of bottles there.

Scapa is an Orkney malt. Loads of people love Highland Park, the big Orkney seller but I'm nae that fussed on it. Very personal taste, whisky. I canna be deein with Laphroig for example. Macallan was always my fave but went off that too.

The 1ltr of Jura Superstition actually cost more at the time, iirc circa £60, seemingly vatted with a mixture of 10-21 year old blends.

Just not for me at all.

Oh right. Sure I've seen it pretty cheap in Asda.

Quick search and you can now get the smaller bottle 750ml for about £30.

I am not much of a whisky drinker, but wanted a reasonable quality bottle at home, more so for visitors, and had read about Jura being high up the list of quality fuskies.

So when I seen the Jura superstition at duty free, at the cost I paid, I presumed it was a malt, and of a decent standard.

I just found it too peaty and smokey. Will go to the specialized Whisky shop in Dufftown, or Gordon and Macphail in Elgin and get a nice Speyside malt, I stay a matter of miles away from the Spey, so might as well promote the fucker.

got to be laphroaig, I love the whiskers with the peaty, medicinal flavours.

we're so lucky with our rain. another good thing, the rain water is a direct link to why Scottish cashmere is the best in the world. karl Lagerfeld is a big fan, so fashion and the arts should be well up there. luxury pieces for the soon to be rampant Chinese buying everything. not quantity, quality, then we take it from there.
