Aonach Eagach

Done it a few times, one of the best walks going. Don't come down the scree beside the clachaig though, dangerous stuff. I have some amazing pictures from this ridge but unsure how to upload them.

I'm looking forward to a winter attempt perhaps as early as this winter with the right team.

It's not physically tough, more mentally, especially the pinnacles, they can be quite exposed. Thoroughly enjoyable though, really makes Scotland such a special place.

Anyone walked the ridge? It's on my "things to do before I die," list, I plan to get it knocked out late summer next year.

Anyone who has walked it, did you go from the Pap of Glencoe to the Devil's Staircase or the other way? How long did it take you?

Aonach Eagach... sounds like the noise people make when they're getting it up the arse dry.

:checkit:

I know it isn't much... but that's really all I have to contribute to this thread.

Carry on, please.

Going to go for late summer for the first time. I suppose we'll take two cars and park one at each end. I have a mate whose father did the ridge many years ago in January - by moonlight!! Brave or stupid, nae sure which. I can only assume there were perfect conditions.

As you suggetst,do it in the summer.

There are too many idiots who die doing things like that in the winter. People whwalk about in the hills should pay insurance so people who lead every day lives don't have to down tools when their beeper goes to rescue the spastics.

People paying insurance to go walk about in the hills, spastics or no, wouldn't make any difference. The Mountain Rescue Team would still be voluteers. The only people who would profit are the insurance companies.
