Guest
Time for Jamie to be known as Langers now, and not Clangers. Sure, some don't like him, but it was essentially his saves that won those two penalty shoots outs (not to discredit the finely taken pens by our guys). As some put aside their differences with our manager and stopped referring to him as a hun... let's give Langfield the credit he deserves and show our unity - no better time to do it after all. a don in oz
Wholeheartedly agree. Feel free to wish for better and want another, but the name calling is just naff. Going through the cup run as well without conceding from open play, good stuff. Just watched his interview and he was bigging up Russ "the best central defender I've played with". 1 Link to comment
360
No He's still Clangers He made a clanger yesterday which could have lost us the cup. One lucky penalty save does not erase the fact that he is shite 3 Link to comment
tup
I think Clangers is a classic nickname so I disagree. He appears able to laugh at himself so it's not an issue. 1 Link to comment
Sonoftherock
For some reason I was hugely confident that things would go full circle for Clangers - particularly going into the shoot-out. He's been so poor in cup ties throughout his Aberdeen career that I had a feeling he was going to save a penalty and emerge as the hero! Link to comment
The Hulk
I'm not gonna lie, like many of you I thought the crisp packets were out again when he spilled thon cross. But when it went to pens, I had a lot of faith. He makes us nervous as fuck, but I'm delighted for him. He gets accused of having no bottle by many, but yet he's beaten off every single challenge to the jersey and come out fighting, and none moreso since his health issues. IF he is eventually replaced, at least he can hold his head high in the knowledge of his massive contribution to acquiring this silverware, and no right-thinking Dons man will ever begrudge him of that. His name's in Dons folklore now, and rightly so. Nice one Clangers, but know this - I'm not dropping the C. Not because I think you're a cunt, far from it in fact, I have huge admiration for your attitude and commitment to the cause, but because that's who you are, and you shouldn't change that. Guest
i'll continue to call him climbing frame face. Poor effort. Think this is a time for forgive and forget. This team, including Langfield, have just delivered what we've been after for so long. Every single one of them deserves a reprieve from the constant abuse seen over the years - from some more than others. Link to comment
Shetland Lamb
At the end of the day, we've won a number of games when maybe in the past we wouldn't have. Why? Because we keep so many clean sheets which means we're always within a chance of grabbing a goal in the last 5 minutes! Link to comment
ollie1903
He calls himself Clangers?? Link to comment
The Cockney Don
Never slagged him off, but he`ll always be Clangers to me ! Link to comment
daytripping
He's a good shot stopper, poor on cross balls. I'm not sure we could find better on our budget, I like him and I love how he celebrates with the fans. We're too used to Snelders and Leightons, he's never going to be on a par with them but he's good, he's growing on me. Link to comment
newcastlered
Also Clangers sounds a lot better than Langers, maybe just use the name ironically now Link to comment
ChutneyLove
The "One Jamie Langfield" that went round the San Giro just before the pens must have given him a big confidence boost. Link to comment
elephantstone78
Agree with dayt and chutney. Langers is camper than Christmas and I knew he was going to save one in the shoot out. Guest
He calls himself Clangers?? Nope, he doesn't. He was in the paper saying maybe the fans will 'drop the C' from him name now.... hence the reason I started this thread. It may be a bit of a laugh to some, but surely it has to have effected his own self esteem over the years. Like I said, the level of abuse, by the likes of FnD and a few others, albeit merited on the odd occasion over the years, is rather petty now. I feel that - as a sign of unity after clinching the cup - we stop referring to him as Clangers. Wishful thinking on my behalf but the sentiment is there nonetheless. Link to comment

tightbreeks
i think it's quite endearing, clangers. at the end of the day names don't mean shit and if he keeps on keeping his sheet clean then it shouldn't really matter. junior jim! Link to comment
