League Cup Trophy Parade

Recommended Posts

Was pretty busy like all up and down the street. Bit meh really though, no real atmosphere. SSN presenter suggesting 70k folk, seemed a bit excessive (or maybe he says 17 weird...). Good to see so many folk out anyways, hopefully translates in to more support at the grounds. Lots of excited youngsters as well.

Heaps o buggers, however atmosphere ruined by tons of folk who either wouldn't sing or only knew Peter Pawlett Baby. Massively made up by the bounce in Castlegate when the trophy was shown off at the Town House tho. Have seen shite posted on Facebook by folk who think it's somehow smart/ intellectual to write crap about how they avoided mixing with the proletariat by hanging out with their trendy poofy chums. Stupid fuckers, it wasn't just to celebrate a cup win! Look what it's done for the city in general this week! Folk have brightened up about the city, the win gave us something more than just a pot to parade down Union St- It's given the Town back its PRIDE!!!!!

So if said so-called "intellectuals" think its somehow clever to bide at home and snark about the "mass hysteria" of their fellow citizens, they can just fuck off. Preferably out of the entire north east area, and go live somewhere where their poofy wanky trendy types congregate.

Anyway....after that rant of a post, which had to be said, canna stand the fuckers that live here, or choose to live here that have no pride in the toon; decent Sunday, roll on Sevco (hopefully) so we can celebrate another one in May!

But I'm gonna let off the folk who had a genuine reason not to come today or didn't want to for whatever reason be that kids, work/offshore, or they're from another country and don't get it (although plenty of our Eastern European settlers in the crowd today- great to see they're getting behind the city for whatever reason). I'm cool with that.

We need to keep this vibe going as long as we can- it's given the town a well needed shot in the arm!

Brilliant day - just home after being out since 9am - the city is buzzing and its been mentioned before - but to sum up the feeling throughout our support: PRIDE.

Finally have a team and manager to be proud of - and we've got so much more to play for.

The world is our oyster at the moment - everything is in place to finish the season with a bang.

Disappointing thing is that although there was that many there today, there was only 14,000 (I'd have had it a 1,000 higher) yesterday.

Aberdeen FC have to be asking what can be done to get these people back through the door as there is obviously an interest. Is it just ticket prices, in particular for a family?

has to be cost, football is ridiculously over priced up here

Cost? It's not like the area struggles for money.

After we won league cup in 1995 our next home crowd was 11,300?

In 1989 our next home crowd was 13,500.

The majority of our 40,000 crowd last week probably don't go to Aberdeen games. A large section of them probably don't care about football. Same as today. People are mis-guided if they believe there is anything the club can do to tap into the 80,000 crowd today or whatever it was. The area is not a hot bed of football supporters desperate to support a winning side.

This.

Winning team is only way we will see crowds staying relatively high.

EPL, years of shite football and a lot of people in the area working offshore/abroad are all reasons why our crowds are not that great.

sorry but no matter how well the team are playing folk arnt going to pay 23 quid for pittodrie

how much for a family to go to pittodrie nowadays

£48 for 2 adults and 2 kids.

I can't see more people going even if the prices were dropped to say £30 for a family of 4.

George Yule what a touch of class that man is. When it was his turn to ligt the trophy up on the town house balcony pointing at the trophy and pointing out to the crowds saying 'this is for you' over and over again.

Although it wasnt a typical football atmosphere today (too much v young and v old?) it was something very special. Hopefully seeing the 70k lining the streets today has sorted Del's pre-matcher for Ibrox on the 13th. Very very special.

How many families do we want there anyway? When I went with my dad when I was younger it was him me and my brother, no mum tailing on. There's no family market out there each week. Cup finals etc i'm sure there will always be.

If you look at the Merkland a dad can take his 2 kids U12 there for £30.00

Some dads with 2 kids probably don't have a spare £30.

Poor people should get in for free.

footballs moved a long way since those days, im sure you will agree.

im of the opinion it should be 15 for adults 5 for kids and you start getting folk back in the ground on a regular basis.
