Faraaaaaage, rhyming with menage. Granted I think a farage a trois would be a lot less exciting...

He is descended of French Huguenot stock, hence the weird surname. Which I suppose makes him the descendants of immigrants. #irony

So UKIP gain their first seat and narrowly miss out on a second.

Interesting times :omg:

Tories on steroids.

Once again, the clear divergence between politics in Scotland and that of England, is laid bare for all to see.

This mob will be in with a shout of being in coalition in 2020. NO voters, are you happy yet?

Tory UKIP coalition in the next general election is a real possibility in my eyes. Perish the thought eh?

Hopefully when the "real" elections happen next year the protest voters will revert back to the other parties. It is commonplace for bye elections and to a certain extent council and euro elections to be used to register dissatisfaction with parties in power and mainstream politics/political parties.

Either that or England has fundamentally lurched to the right and to me personally that is an appalling thought.

England has lurched to the right. No doubting it. Scaramoosh!

Technically England has been a French colony since 1066. 'Anglo Saxon' culture is a myth ;)

It could be argued UKIP are little more than english nationalists, I'd say some of Fandango's comments about Scotland and Scottish people during the referendum show this*. UKIP are basically the BNP in pinstripe suits. Thousands of BNP members have defected to UKIP

*comments like "it's time for the Scottish tail to stop wagging the English dog". It seems to me he considers non-Enlish people as second class citizens in the UK.

UKIP are a comedy party and the funniest bit is that the English are voting for them. A nation of stupids.

"

BBC SOAP EastEnders has introduced a new family who all support UKIP.

The Wilshaws, who move into 5 Albert Square next week, are a working-class family whose patriarch Terry has lost his job growing curved cucumbers because of EU laws.

Mum Suzanne runs a patriotic trinket shop and has a pug trained to bite Albanians, while her aspiring councillor daughter Donna begins a relationship with Max Branning which ends because she cannot be seen with anyone so obviously EDL.

Soap blogger Joanna Kramer said: “EastEnders has a few Tories, a few Labour and Nasty Nick is a committed Lib Dem, but there’s a real lack of representation for fringe parties.

“Back in 1992, there was a humorous subplot when Video Shop Nigel voted for the Natural Law party, and they claim Alfie Moon’s Sinn Fein but it’s never come up in storylines.

UKIP are now vastly over-represented in Albert Square in comparison with their actual support, which brings the soap in line with the rest of the BBC.

The UKIP theme is expected to terminate next May when all the characters in the show will abruptly lose all interest in the general election and fail to mention it for two months."

Could anyone give a concrete example of why anyone should dislike Farage?

I mean, what are these hostile opinions actually based on, other than sections of the media telling people what to think?

I think most attacks on UKIP are about maintaining the political status quo of two large dominant parties constantly exhanging the keys to Downing Street between them.

But if people want change, then something has to change, right?

Fandango is a small minded bigot who appeals to the absolute worst side of the English nation. He is an ugly racist. If you have ever lived in England you would know exactly who he would appeal to. I know people who would vote for this character and it is absolutely down to the fact that they dinnae like anything or anyone foreign.

England for the English. Cheer him on if it makes you giggle.
