Germany V Argentina (1 - 0)

Feeling deflated now its over.

Germany are dissapointung winners for me.

And the world cup despite being lauded as the best ever is only really the best since germany 06.

Knockout stages have had very few good games.

And Neuer is a liability. Not a sweeper.

Don't worry Bluto, I think Man United are going to surprise a few this season, so I doubt you'll be feeling too down for long.

I was pleased to see Germany win - it's brilliant to see the way they've steadily progressed since getting flogged by England 12 years ago... from the foundations laid shortly after that debacle, by Klinsmann and Loew, to the crowning glory on Sunday. Additionally, I quite enjoyed reading about the 2009 U21 European Championship victory and how 6 of those guys (and perhaps more from the squad/bench?), who formed the spine of that side, graduated to the starting line-up on Sunday. I personally think it's a great story, 12 years in the making, with a fitting ending. IMO this sort of romance is exactly what the World Cup should be about... of course, I wouldn't have expected a hot air balloon like you to appreciate any of this! We all know you're just butt-hurt because your heroes Wayne Rooney and Cristiano Ronaldo got papped out early.

Your comments on Neuer are equally laughable. I'd actually have taken him as player of tournament. As a top keeper, he has all the saves, but the command he has of his area sets him apart from other 'keepers. His influence at the back is absolutely huge.

Messi the best in tournament? No. Would have given it to Mascherano (sp?)

He wouldn't have been far behind Neuer, from what I saw. Messi produced a few match winning moments, but Mascherano was certainly the driving force behind an Argentinian side that surprisingly lacked flair, but was certainly dogged.

It's all Mixus fault.....

What is Fifa's Technical Study Group?

The Golden Ball and other individual awards are chosen by Fifa's Technical Study Group, a 13-strong committee which analyses matches at international tournaments.

The group was set up after the 1966 World Cup to monitor trends and developments in the game.

Current members include former Liverpool manager Gerard Houllier and ex-Hibernian boss Mixu Paatelainen.

Former Nigeria midfielder Sunday Oliseh and Ricki Herbert, who managed New Zealand at the 2010 World Cup, are also on the committee, which has no British representative.

Roy Hodgson was due to be invited into the Technical Study Group before he was appointed England manager.

I'm sure the vote for these categories is fair and impartial just like every other vote FIFA are involved in.
