Aberdeen V Fc Groningen (0 - 0)

Watching all the goals from last season, and although he spent a large proportion of it on the bench, Scotty Vernon had a great year. If we fail to get the best out of Goodwillie, then we could come up short of goals.

Also, for all the abuse he took about being a lazy cant... McGinn was ever present as well. If we could only get him back to his first season's form (and desire) for us. Coupled with Rooney.... I think we'd scooch 2nd.

Here's what you are up against.

But you are lucky you do not have to face Calvin Zola because we couldn't keep hold of him. He'd have scored loads in these two games.

You will really struggle to score against us. Our keeper is awesome & is rumoured to be getting a big move to the English Premiership very soon. He's waiting to get his testimonial year out of the way & is moving on then.

He will be very hard to replace but thankfully we'll have him for this Europa run. We call him the Jedi. He is THAT good.

Hello everybody!

As a Groningen supporter i am very disappointed that im not able to come to scotland cause of work etc.. I would have loved to go to Aberdeen to see your (on pictures) cool stadium and their supporters.

Luckilly i allready have my ticket for the game in Holland:)

I hope we can make it an absolute party both games for both supportersgroups.

My prediction:

1-1 in Aberdeen.

3-1 in Groningen as we are very difficult to beat in our own stadium and our supporters should support the team like crazy.

Here's a little video of what you can expect in Groningen. (skip the first 2:18 because that just during the warming-up)

Whichever team may go on will have my support:)

The Dons will take care of your lot quite comfortably. By a couple of goals at Pittodrie and by the odd goal in Holland. Did you say you were having a party at your house in Holland next week? Are we all invited?

Nae even 14k tickets sold. Disappointing.

No idea why they have made this all ticket. What's the justification? Are they afraid of Dutch fans getting in with home fans? That's the only explanation as far as I can see.

Some companies like data capture which making it all ticket would gain names, etc.

But club should be making it as easy as possible to increase attendance.

Nonsense really.

Misscheen 1-0 of 2-1.

Sorry voor het slecht Nederlands. Ik kun het niet zo goed schrijven.

'Keep fans apart' is nonsense. You can just have PATG for both ends.

It's less hastle for the club if abody buys before the game.

Although presumably it makes it harder for Stewartie to understate the attendance so he can keep some extra tax money in his hipper.

Never realised Suarez started off his Euro career at Groningen. Both them and Ajax set to receive development payments as part of his move to Barca. Tidy bit of business for them.

Still..... get intae the cloggers - heid first!!!

"It's nice to be here," says Van de Looi. "After a season of hard work, this is the result. We must compete against a good opponent in a good atmosphere and perhaps a full Stadium. It's a tough game, also because this so early in the season, but we have prepared us well. "

The technical staff has the double confrontation of Aberdeen FC with Dauvaga Riga seen and reviewed DVDs of matches from the last period in the previous season. "Dick Lukkien and I are been itself last week in Riga. In addition, for example, we have the match of last season against Motherwell on dvd seen. We know the opponent well so they have in that respect no surprises for us. "

"There is a well organized team who knows how it wants to play. In addition, they have players with individual qualities. They have an idea about football and like to keep the ball on the ground. The old kick and rush football where Scots in Netherlands to were known, is certainly not the case for Aberdeen FC. We have to be at our best to get a good result here. We will enjoy, but also for a result. "

FC Groningen can Thursday do not already have the injured Martijn van der Laan. The other newbies in the selection are of the party. "Van der Laan is there not yet and is in the Netherlands remained, but other newbies are fit. We look forward to play here. Certainly also because many of our fans have made the long trip to Scotland. That makes me proud and it gives the team confidence. It's a sign that the Europa League lives in Groningen. "
