Aberdeen V Real Sociedad (2 - 3) (Agg 2 - 5)

Spoken like a true EPL fan.

Fuck the money - this is about letting kids see the Dons and beginning the same sort of love affair that's lasted most of us 30+ years

You have picked on the entirely wrong person to throw that accusation at bud. I despise the EPL with a passion. Those who know me on here will confirm it.

There is the point at which you are backed into the sea. We have been eroded for years and years. All I want is the same as yourself, honestly.

No offence man but that is total horseshit. So by selling our asses for free we are playing the long game? Once you are reduced to selling your product for nothing then you have nothing worth selling.

Exactly.

NEVER sell your own team short & especially not for fkn free.

This is exactly why the likes of Sky etc. are offering us less & less with every passing year & more & more goes down south.

No different to bending over & letting the OF fk us up the arse regarding league financing/tv money in the past.

If Fraser has sold us out for fk all, then serious questions should be asked & he cannot play it off against our "feel good factor" because we need cash.

Let's give more of our young players away for fk all because it will benefit us in the future because we may create some extra interest in our youth players for the future :nutso: this is the kind of BS I'm understanding with some folks attitudes.

Take FULL advantage when we can EVERY time

You have just described fitba as "product". That is the language of an EPL fan regardless of your watching habits

Is £10k or so really so important that you would deny potentially thousands of fans the chance to watch the game?

I would qualify this by saying that if BT are doing this pay per view then they should be told to run to fuck

& if they are selling the rights AT ALL to the Spanish, as the agreement only states they can screen it in UK & NI.

Nothing to say they can, or cannot sell on rights outside UK

I have no interest in English football. Zero.

I would deny myself the right to watch the game. I prefer Scottish football despite the two smelly bastards.

Lol at all the "we've sold this game for nothing" posts.

The game has been sold on a non commercial basis which must mean that BT can't make a "commercial" profit from the TV rights they have bought by, for example, selling them to another broadcaster at a profit or charging additionally for consumers already on their package.

At least that's how I interpret that phrase.

It's amusing how many people can't wait to jump to the wrong conclusions if it means they can have a pop at the club.

I hope your interpretation is correct but nobody has jumped to any certain wrong conclusions.

The discussion is based on IF (IF) it has been sold for fk all. Much in the same way there is an over 200 page thread based on if & buts of the independence referendum.

IF it's been sold for fk all after simply selling out allocation then it's a fkn disgrace & poor financial management by the club

IF it has been "allowed" for BT to simply screen it without them making a profit & any profits they do make are filtered back to the club then great.

But to simply allow it to be screened for free (if this IS the case) & not try to maximise profits from it by actually selling the rights then we are selling ourselves (& Scottish football) short & taking a backward step.

Nobody is stating it as a fact, or knowing what the exact deal is. We are simply DISCUSSING our opinions on which way the club may have (or may not have) profited from the screening rights.

Read back trough & you will see this is the case

Simples

It is actually.

You have missed the point of the discussion.

Nobody has stated that they KNOW the deal exactly. It's just a discussion based on the merits of us "possibly" giving the rights away for fk all, or actually trying to maximise profit by actually selling the rights to make profits from it.

It may be a great deal for us but we haven't been told it is or isn't. We haven't even been told if we "sold" the rights like we were when Bayern Munich bought the rights years ago.

All we've been told if BT sports offered to screen it non commercially. Which means what exactly :dontknow:

First two sentences spoken like you truly know then the third line, just like the rest of us then, speculating.

And for what it's worth I don't see why AFC would bother mentioning it if that were the case.

Thankfully you're not the one dealing with selling our club to the public for profits then.

Give them an inch & all that.

Scottish football is being robbed by television companies as it is, so we should NEVER whoore ourselves for free. Regardless of of however (minimal) many Redtv subscribers it pleases.

Maybe, just maybe, AFC thought of fans unable to get to Thursday's game, like those offshore or who missed out on a ticket?

Would any other company have offered to do an outside broadcast at such short notice? Doubtful. Without that, there's no way anyone outside of Pittodrie Stadium would be able to watch the game on Thursday.

Are we suggesting, then, that the club should be putting profit before fans?

EDIT - Ignore the following

Can't see it anywhere, but the game tomorrow night will be on BT Sport... http://www.afc.co.uk/news/4667.php#.U-H-KvldWu9

The Club is delighted to confirm it has reached a non-commercial agreement with BT Sport, enabling them to broadcast the home leg of our Third Qualifying Round Europa League match against Real Sociedad on Thursday evening throughout the UK and Republic of Ireland
Aberdeen FC Chief Executive, Duncan Fraser. "When it was obvious the game was going to be a sell-out in the home ends at Pittodrie, BT approached us regarding broadcasting the game and given there will be many Aberdeen supporters around the world unable to attend this is a great opportunity for them not to miss a minute of the action."

Simon Green, head of BT Sport, said: "BT Sport is delighted to be commencing its new season of UEFA Europa League football coverage with exclusive coverage of the Dons' match qualifier against Real Sociedad. At BT Sport we thoroughly enjoyed bringing fans a number of Aberdeen's games over the past year from the SPFL and we look forward to an exciting game from Pittodrie."

BT Sport will broadcast in on BT Sport 1 and BT Sport 1 HD on air from 7.30pm with subscribers to RedTV International also able to watch the match live.

The match at Pittodrie will kick off at 7.45pm on Thursday evening.
