fine-n-dandy
I know I said it, I'll say it again if you like? He doesn't work hard. That is my opinion, I'm not denying it? I don't think he does and I hope he improves that aspect of his game. If we had a David Goodwillie putting in a shift that Rooney does then we would be even better off than we are at the moment.I think he (& Rooney) are "possibly" being asked to work a little too hard if anything & this is affecting their finishing when they get their chances. Yes I know the whole team has to graft & I understand why but if at least one of the strikers were given a little more license to not burst a gut ALL the time to get back deep & defend (or to pick up the ball) then they may have a little more composure when needed. DG & Rooney are BOTH putting in a great amount of work though. No arguments there imo. Link to comment

I would say it's more to do with the fact that DG just needs to burst the next a few times in fairly quick succession and he'll start finding his rhythm again. Link to comment

Seen it before with plenty decent strikers in the past (Boyd was a good example for one) when asked to do more work deeper back & defend etc. their form in front of goal suffered. Falcao & Diago Costa also suffered the same when they were playing together but when played on their own they were fantastic in front of goal. Cannot argue that McInnes is getting the good out of them now because of our winning/defensive record of late but it's about finding that correct balance between defence & attacking. Said it before that once we do ship a goal. I think we'll begin to score a few more but time will tell on this. Link to comment
