McLeish Names First Squad

If we're going by scoring charts Iwelumo should be called up also, 15 in the league this season.

Ah yes, forgot about him. Certainly would have been worth a B squad place.

As for O'Connor, I don't know the sinister story, but if it's related to family issues (wife and sister I understand) then I think we can forgive him having left unexpectedly to sort out his personal life. I'm surprised so many on here are willing to have a go at him. As has been posted, Weir threw a hissy fit and left because he had a bruised ego, why is he suddenly welcomed back? Anyway, my point remains, why did McLeish not speak to O'Connor before the squad was named?

I completely missed this (apols if it has been mentioned already - from SFA website):

McNAMARA REJOINS SCOTLAND SET-UP Monday, 05 Feb 2007

New Scotland manager Alex McLeish hosted his first meeting with the Scotland squad, bringing the players together at Turnberry Hotel for a two day training camp.

He sprang a surprise with the late addition of Jackie McNamara to the squad, after hearing that the Wolves defender was keen to remain involved in the national team set-up, having won the last of his 33 caps in September 2005.

Did David Weir apologise for letting Scotland down? He basically pi$$ed off in the huff because his manager criticised him (and Chris Dailly) for a bad performance against a poor team. Dailly sucked it up and became one of Vogts most important players - Weir didn't and should have never pulled on the dark blue again.

:o:nono:
