RAZOR
http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/news/scottish-news/irn-bru-makers-stop-30p-6277463 IRN-BRU is to stop paying back 30p for returning its bottles, it was revealed today.Drinks giant Barr said it will continue to sell the nation's other favourite drink in glass bottles. The firm said the push by eco-friendly parents to recycle their Irn Bru bottles meant the end of an era for the cash refund after 110 years. The Barr’s board decided to end the 30p deposit scheme at a meeting and told shopkeepers yesterday. The last day to get money back on a juice bottle will be December 31. AFCaketin
I had a collection of about 4 empty bru bottles in a cupboard for over a year, a wee rainy day fund...the wife chucked them out with the recycling the other day. Sakes min, you wouldn't throw £1.20 down a drain. Bint. Link to comment
tup
I remember cleaning out my pals granddad's shed as a youngster, and he must have had about 80 empty lemonade bottles in it. He said you can have them to me and my pal. Was like winning the fucking lottery, £8 between us. Link to comment

Sakes min, you wouldn't throw £1.20 down a drain. Bint. i do it all the time -- beer, wine and others into the recycling. i cannot be arsed driving back in a separate trip to a store to get the deposit back (and never remember to bring them with me next time i'm at those stores), so consider it a contribution to whoever's picking through curbside recycling boxes looking for them. tup
Was always 10p when I put them back, I do vaguely recall it going up to 15p but I was getting too old for it by then. 30p these days, jeepers. How much does a glass bottle cost to manufacture? Link to comment

Ke1t
We recycle because the wife reckons she's saving the planet by handing in empty bottles and cans. I think it's unlikely that it helps, but you've got to let the women feel useful once in a while, even if they're hopeless at knocking a nail in a piece of wood or lifting a cement slab.
