Tord31
Clearly the strikers were on a different level the fact we had so many quality internationals Link to comment

Ke1t
The team with the Dutchmen would smash our current side and win this league with room to spare. 3 Link to comment
fine-n-dandy
Current side would win a walking pace. They others are all old as fuck now 1 Link to comment
ericblack4boss
I'd love to see Paul mason of old in this current side, he be similar to Kenny McLean, except right footed, Have we had a worse midfielder than shitey craig Robertson. Link to comment

Ke1t
I would sooner have Darren Young in the team than Paul Kane. Would have been a great Jimmy signing, talentless and disinterested. The worst midfielder we've had by a country fucking mile. Link to comment
Clydeside_Sheep
How does our current squad come compare to the side of era of the late 80s early 90s. With the exception of Michael Watt, just about all the players you list are at least as good as what we have now for the same position. Probably most would walk into our current side. Link to comment
Chewie37
It's always impossible to compare current teams against ones from past eras, but I'd say that both teams are similar in confidence, skill and speed level compared to the other teams in their league at the time. Probably a cop out If we were allowed to have just three players from the old team now, I'd go for McLeish, Gilhaus and Nicholas And it always pissed me off massively when Winnie got booed when the lineups were read out before the game, way to build confidence Main Stand fannies Link to comment
a don in oz
Nice... that list makes me feel giddy. Of that lot, the ones I would like in our current team are: Defenders:Mckimmie.McLeish.Connor,Midfield:BettMasonRichardson.Strikers:Gllhaus.Shearer.Jess.Booth.Paatelainen.Nicholas. If I have to be stingy and pick only 3 it would be Gilhaus, Shearer and Mason and Richardson. That's close enough to 3. Link to comment

King Street Loon
I still say that this teamSneldersMcKimmieWrightGrantMcLeishIrvineMasonBettJessShearerConnorPlus squad players - Richardson, Booth, Paatelainen etcWas better to watch than this current generation. This version are getting better though. Link to comment
Crossbow
The late eighties squad is better than our current squad but it probably the last time that was the case. We shouldn't down play how good our current squad is - and compared to the recent past they are so much more solid; not without flaw and areas that can be improved but ouor current league position is fully justified. They need to continue to justify it though - a season is a long time and a test of character as well as ability. But oh, to have that 80s/90s midfield again with Gilhaus and Nicholas up front - it'd be fun - that late 80s/early 90s team would give sides in the current champions league a run for their money. 1 Link to comment
RUL
There isn't a player in our current team that would get into the late 80/90 squad. Link to comment

barrowred
I think Hayes and Shinnie would get into that side, possibly McLean, who reminds me a wee bit of Billy Stark/Connor (who both got massive stick, little did we know what was coming!) I like Adam Rooney but the lads up front were on a different planet- and good though Danny Ward is, he's no Theo yet. However, we better any side after this era for me. Link to comment

Jess maybe for the creativity, or Brian Grant to muscle people, get the ball and give it to Ryan Jack. But then you'd need Jim Bett to scream "what the fuck are you doing you sideways crablike prick" at him all the time to get the best out of him, and to show him where the opposition goals actually are. Edit: and Shinnie would get into the late 80's team, no others. 2 Link to comment
Chewie37
Jim Bett was ace, I always remember one lunchtime from school bumping into him and McLeish coming out of the casino in tuxedos, no idea how long they'd been out. McLeish still looked perfectly groomed, Bett looked totally fucked, bow tie undone shirt hanging out........think he was still awesome that weekend Link to comment
strachanmcgheegoal
.....And Bett picks up the ball and drives down the left wing towards the tunnel, cuts inside and (((Despite the fact the opposition keeper knows exactly what he's going to do and where its going to go))) rifles it into the postage stamp corner regardless. Mcginn. Get video. Watch and learn. Marvellous. Link to comment
King Street Loon
Grant, Jack and Bett would be a cracking midfield.Or Rico, Jack and Bett.Grant, Rico, Bett Link to comment
