Scotland Squad For Poland & Gibraltar Games

Make it simple. If you are born in the country then you can play. None of this eligibility cause your granny was born there. I would go as far a eligibility for players whose parents (both) were born in that country. For example you can hardly say a child isn't Bosnian because both parents had to flee a warzone.

 

We need players who want to play for Scotland in first instance, rather than taking players who chose to play for Scotland because they knew that they would never get a game for their home country.

 

Neither Neil Simpson or Neale Cooper could have played for Scotland in that case.

Beyond me how shankland makes that Scotland u21 squad then lee Erwin doesn't, he's probably our best up and coming striker

The simplest thing is this: when you sign your s-forms or whatever aged 16, you state your nationality.

 

Nationality criteria should also apply to the manager, IMO.
