DonTillIDie
No, not Ronaldo, Messi and Tony Kombouare I think most of us would say we have to win the game if we are to challenge for the league title (notice how I used the words "challenge for" and not a 3 letter word. I'm not usually superstitious....) I hope I am wrong, but we might not get the chance to challenge for the title again for a while, so we have to do everything we can to give Celtic as few chances as possible to control the game, so : 1. Obviously we need to pick the best players available, but I also think the most experienced. Give him his due, Craig Storie has done well in the last couple of games, but it's maybe a bit too early to put him in against the likes of Scott Brown, etc. 2. We need to close their players down quickly when they have the ball, especially at the back. Ok, Ambrose probably won't start now (damn it) but it's Erik Sviatchenko's first game and it's imperative that we don't give them time to pass the ball about. This happens a bit too much against them at Pittodrie for my liking, so hopefully that will change tonight. Their defence isn't that great when under pressure, and they're used to having time on the ball, so if we close them down like Hearts did to us in the Scottish Cup then I think it could make a big difference. It's maybe easier said than done sometimes, and it would mean quite a bit of running around, but it would probably be worth it. If we play 1 up front, Rooney and the wingers Hayes and McGinn or Rooney and at least the furthest forward of our central midfielders should always try and move up and close them down. Derek, I hope you're reading this 3. And finally, there is no greater incentive to create one hell of an atmosphere. We're right behind them in the league, we outnumber them by even more now, now that they get less tickets, and we REALLY need to win the game. Those of you who don't normally sing, please sing! Even if it is just for this game! And hooters, inflatable sticks in the family stand, red vuvuzelas, whatever. Let's make home advantage count. The atmosphere against them in the first game this season was first class. Let's do that again, or even better! Even if we go behind, please carry on supporting the team. Even if we're 1-0 down with 10 minutes to go or whatever, anything can happen. A sending off for them, a penalty to us, or both! You see what happened in the first game when Hayes got sent off. They fought on and won with our support behind them. A few sidenotes: 1. What formation should we play? Should it be the normal 4-5-1? BrownLogan, Taylor, Reynolds, ConsidineMcGinn, McLean, Pawlett, Shinnie, HayesRooney Or 4-4-2 with Church up front, coming in for Pawlett? I don't think so, as I'm not sure if the new signing should start (same reason as Storie - new to the first team), but what are your thoughts? Or 4-5-1 with Church in behind Rooney instead of McLean or Pawlett? Not sure if this would be his position, and again, I don't think McInnes will start Church. 2. What is your funniest moment at Pittodrie or any football ground? Mine was probably when we played Rangers at Pittodrie. I think it was back in 2002, the same game that Winters got struck by coins thrown by their hooligans. It was at half-time and "Who Let The Dogs Out" by the Baha Men had been in the charts recently. I think it was played before the game as well, which maybe didn't help the atmosphere, but anyway. When the Rangers players came out of the tunnel onto the pitch after half-time, the DJ played 5 seconds of the song, I mean blaring out, "WHO LET THE DOGS OUT?, WOOF WOOF WOOF WOOF, WHO LET THE DOGS OUT?" and that was it. No backing to the chant in the song, nothing, 5 seconds. It was hilarious. We lost the game 1-0 but never mind. 3. It's Peter Pawlett's 25th birthday tonight at the game. If we're drawing or winning at half-time, I think they should play "Don't You Want Me Baby" so we can all sing his song. Then put his photo on the new boards on the side of the pitch and get the announcer to read out happy birthday to him from all of his family. Then maybe play "Happy Birthday" by Stevie Wonder as well. Then maybe do this all again at the end of the game if we win. If you're playing Peter, it would be a great birthday present if you got a goal. A win would do though. All the best to everyone and please roar on your team tonight! Richard 1 Link to comment

fine-n-dandy
3 things we need are point one, point two & point three. If we dont get point one two & three we will not get three points. We could get point one if we finish on the same goals tally in the game as them but that would be shit. Didn't read all the OP's points because it looks like a bit of a chore but I assume I pretty much covered it. Link to comment
