Scottish Football Couldn't Have A Doping Problem Could It ?

Recommended Posts

Last month it emerged that the Scottish Football Association has conducted just eight drug tests on SPFL players in the last nine months. In English football there were 1583 tests over the same period.

Compare and contrast those eight tests to Scottish football in the 2010/11 season, when 122 tests were carried out across our game.

The numbers have been in freefall year-on-year ever since.

The SFA defend this policy by insisting their current procedures are “adequate” to catch players taking illegal substances because it’s based on intelligence rather than random testing.

An SFA statement said: “We are in constant dialogue on provision of testing and are proud and protective of our reputation as a clean sport.”

So the number of tests are dropping as time goes by. 8 tests in 9 month must be the worst drug testing number in any sport. The SFA are looking for folk to name a player suspected to be on drugs then take further action. If you do not test players of course the SFA are proud of their clean reputation.

Nothing in Scottish football is "based on intelligence", so clearly that's a fucking lie.

Liverpool defender Mamadou Sakho has been suspended for 30 days by Uefa after it opened disciplinary proceedings against him following a failed drugs test.

The suspension is provisional until a final decision is taken by Uefa's control, ethics and disciplinary body.

Sakho, 26, tested positive for what is thought to be a type of fat burner after the Europa League win against Manchester United on 17 March.

That is the reason Scottish players are not failing dope tests they are never in European competitions long enough to take them.

If

and its a big if,

Scottish footballers were on performance drugs?

Why is the National team shite ?

and would any other Nation care ?

Maybe its the shite players on the drugs? Besides the debate isn't about Scottish players, its about players based in Scotland (hardly any of whom get into the national team anyway)

If there is no testing happening, then it is safe to assume some teams and players will be using drugs to cheat. That's what we have learned in every other sport and football is not special in any way its just the same as every other sport - no capable testing = drugs cheating

Also saying something is intelligence based is just stupid and completely missing the point of drugs testing.

That's like saying we won't police the streets anymore because we will do all policing intelligence based, then sacking all the plod and just letting CID investigate when someone reports a serious incident.

Usual smug, inept, shite from the SFA.
