Rip Norman

Recommended Posts

Used to be in the same supporters bus as him in the 90s before I joined the Ullevi Dons. Can't say I ever spoke to him but admired the fact he was at every home and away game no matter how shite we were.

Someone suggested as a tribute the team should wear one red sock, one white sock for the last home game of the season. Think that'd be a really nice touch.

Aye the auld boy that would even wear red/ white socks, always in the toon on his own.

Fine boy.

Just seen his picture on Twitter.

RIP to a proper dandy. I hope that after all the clapping during games for people who couldn't point Pittodrie on a map, Norman gets a decent send off from the fans and club.

Crap news.

Should attempt a 90 minute silence for the great man, or sing a Goldie Looking Chain song on the 83rd minute.

RIP Normski.

Sad news to hear of the passing of Norman Goldie. An absolute legend of a supporter. A proper supporter/club man.

Did they ever catch that bastard that assaulted him in Torry a few years back?

The word "Legend" is overused nowadays in my view, but it's completely appropriate for Norman. Remember when he got mugged and the fans went to visit him in hospital, had a whip-round, etc.,? He was genuinely very touched. I spoke to him once or twice over the years and his focus remained the same - get to the stadium to support his beloved Dons.

Rest in peace, Norman. You've earned it.

The guy epitomised what supporting Aberdeen is all about, we're never going to be World beaters but he never gave up supporting the team no matter how bad we got, sad day for our city and club, they broke the mould after he was born, as others have said the word legend is overused but this man bled Aberdeen and wasn't afraid to show it. I even saw him at a fucking freezing under 20 game at Pittodrie a couple Months back, at his age getting off his arse and usually walking to Pittodrie to watch the kids on top of all the support he's shown the first team over tens of years home and away showed me all I needed to know about the guy.

Plus any man who can pull off the sandal look with different colour socks and a couple scarfs round his wrists deserves a load of credit. :)

Diamond of a man, I grew up in the stands alongside Norman (not right beside him and I did go home after games but you know what I mean, :)) He was Aberdeen.

Really hope the club make an occasion of our last home game in honour of the man, I've been debating getting a red rose and a white one and going to lay them down at the ground in his honour but not sure if that makes me a lady Di type grief hunter, will decide in the morning.

RIP Norman, You were the best and inspired more people than you'll ever know. I know your big red nose will make the heavens shine brighter than ever.

Great idea. Be nice to see the club pay tribute to a supporter such as him in a way so relevant for him.

Would even go as far as to say he could have his ashes spread at Pittodrie.

Reckon all the supporters that are doing the minutes applause should wear red/white socks on their hands also :applause::laughing:

RIP
