Who Wins The Tournament?

Simple question... but looks a difficult one to answer.

 

Probably the most open tournament in years. None of the big countries/perennial contenders, look that strong. France are the favourites with the bookies, but what have they actually achieved? In a fallow year, the Germans would usually represent decent value, but they really look extremely average these days. The Italians are another 'tournament team' but not sure they're much better either.

 

On paper the Belgians looks like the strongest, but the golden generation hasn't really ever properly gelled. The sum of their parts are certainly greater than the whole!

 

What are the chances of a bolter winning this time... and who does everyone fancy?

Poland have what it takes to win in my opinion. A work class striker and a quality spine of the team.

Every team has 11 very fit cunts these days - so anyone can beat anyone really.

 

But France for me - at home with a bunch of rabid, wine drinking, garlic draped, stripey jumpered frogs legs slurping locals behind them, they shouldnt fail.

Wales to qualify for last 16 having only got one win (england) in the groups. Then fluke all the way thru to the final and probably win it. Church wont get the winner but likely be involved

Player of the tournament and top scorer markets very interesting for me, got a few for each that I like, won't take much to be top scorer so Vardy and Kane both worth getting on side.

Some squads from the big sides have glaring holes in them.

 

eg the strikers for big nations like Spain, Germany and Italy are horrendous.

 

Think there's quite a few team who could win this and it wouldn't be a surprise.

Also a good tournament for one of the medium sized nations to win.

I'm with minijc in fancying Croatia. Strong arguments can be made for 6 or 7 teams but Croatia have an experienced defence, top quality midfield and a finisher in Mandzukic. My only worry is outside the first 11 there isn't much else but if they stay injury free they can win it. Good chance of winning their group as well to get a nice easy draw in the last 16
