slippers
Having seen the success of RB Leipzig since they formed in 2009 after being bought by red bull, would you accept the dons being bought by red bull and potentially havint name and crest changed in exchange for vast amounts of money and higher chance of success? Obviously won't happen but just interested to see what people's views are. Link to comment
manboobs109
Depends how much they would change it. Being called Red Bull Aberdeen and the new stadium being called the Red Bull Arena isn't the end of the world. Loads of teams change their badge. 1 Link to comment

I always thought Bundesliga rules prevented clubs being owned by companies with the exception of Wolfsburg (traditionally the Volkswagen Works side) and Hoffenheim (not sure why)? I know they aren't allowed to be called Red Bull anyway, hence the RB (Rasen Ballsport). Link to comment
Lang Bar
I expect Angus would be happy about it.Probably ok for a while until Red Bull got bored of it or saw that it didn't add to their sales, then we'd be dropped, and revert to old school badge again.Let them pay for the stadium first! RB are obviously a commercial brand looking to challenge the top boys and they have the money to do it. Their ethos seems to be buying players aged below 24 and they apparently have some of the best training facilities in the world. The germans feel really passionate about fans ownership and this is why other fans have protested at the existence of RB Leipzig. Link to comment

Dynamo
Red bull salzburg aren't exactly a roaring success. Depends what you mean by success...they've won the league 7 times as RB Salzburg (since 2005). Had won it 3 times before that. Link to comment

But yeah my claim seems a little hollow based on those stats Link to comment
Dynamo
I'm not surprised they're hated. Completely sold out. Link to comment

Dynamo
Would you sell out the dons though? Every man has a price Nah, whats the point. Rather see us play young local players if times got that tough.Winning trophies for these big clubs in Europe and Celtic is ten a penny. Means fuck all to them. Link to comment
vanderark14
I'm not surprised they're hated. Completely sold out. What do you mean by sold out? They bought an existing franchise and they want to develop young players instead of buying in the best of the best like Bayern do in Germany. Bayern are a massive corporate machine nowdays so is there really much difference between what Bayern have become and what Leipzig have started as Link to comment

Team colours. They are a brand new team with a new name, they only bought the franchise. I see this as no worse than the likes of Bayern, Man Utd, Real, Barca and the rest hoovering up the majority of the money and buying the best of the best to continue dominating fitba Link to comment
The_Next_Legend
I'd do it. We already have a red home kit, our away kit is white (Essentially vice versa than all the red bull teams). So we could hopefully keep that the same way. Change the badge all you like, i preferred the old one we had in the 80's anyways + a badge is just a badge as long as it had Aberdeen and reference to football on it i'd be behind it. They'd pay for the stadium, training facilities etc. anyway and we'd have by far the best in the country and able to attract the best young players from Scotland/Even some abroad etc. would be keen. I'm surprised they haven't tried to start something like this in England. What surprises me most about RB Leipzig is their average attendance has increased from like 3k when in the 5th tier to about 30k last season. Obviously germany is a massive nation compared to scotland but it's still impressive. Link to comment
Bluto10
Bayern had a smaller record transfer fee than rangers in the 90s. Then they became massive spenders circa 2005. They are just the German United\Real.Without the romance. Link to comment

Loads of Brits from an RAF base in Germany watching it in the local town. All the Brits supporting Bayern and the Germans supporting Man Utd. Both teams were hated for being successful before they became football super powers. Link to comment
vanderark14
Apparently its not 51% fan ownership at all................the rule is that 51% of the club must be controlled by "voting members". Link to comment

Mr John
Good point actually, I'm going to go put a tenner on at ladbrokes (ignoring the trophy), that Sevco Red Bull FC will be playing out of iPox in the bottom division next year. Wonder what odds I'd get? Link to comment
