Big Sam For Scotland

I think Sam Allardyce is a fantastic option. A man who can think for himself and is not a yes man. His managerial record is excellent and he would shake up the status quo 'jobs for the boys' mentality. Only Berti Vogts had the bottle to choose players that the media and blazers within the SFA would not have.

That's what Strachan was meant to do

True but I think the difference here is that Sam actually would have the balls to make changes. Never going to happen anyway

TBH its hard to see the obvious candidate yo replace Strachan.

Alex Neil was quite a good suggestion from someone but frankly I doubt he'd leave Norwich City for the Scotland job.

Again it just goes to highlight the ineptitude with which the SFA run our national game, they should have a group of progressive young managers working within the SFA system from which they might choose the most promising to take up the reigns. Instead the U21, U19, U17 teams are just treated as a jobs for the boys exercise.

What justifiable reason did they have for giving Ricky Sbragia the U21 role for so long? And before that we had Archie Gemmill. Neither were ever likely to progress to the top job so why waste time with them at U21 or U19 level?

So with no one within the system, we are left trawling around the clubs for anyone shite enough to want to come to the job - ie anyone out of work with no chance of a bigger job, or employed at a small enough club to see it as a step up.
