Lencarl
Gordon Strachan warns that Celtic striker Leigh Griffiths faces a difficult task, on account of his smaller stature, to work his way into the starting line-up for the World Cup qualifier against England at Wembley next month. In Scotland's two recent matches Strachan opted for more physical players up front - Steven Fletcher and Chris Martin. The Scotland boss says, "You need to have a certain amount of height in international football teams to defend set plays" He may have a point, but coming from someone who is around 5ft and was an international player himself it is a bit rich. Diego Maradona was only 5ft 5 and he was pretty good goal scorer, not that I am saying that Leigh Griffiths is in the same class. Link to comment
Poodler
Why would Leigh Griffiths be defending set pieces? Small quick cunt, surely use him for a break? Not that I care anyway. Intnl Fitba is lunacy Link to comment

Intnl Fitba is lunacy According to wee Gordy, your strikers do that in international football. Look at Spain's giant forwards winning all those defensive headers at corners. You obviously just don't know very much about football with this chat of a striker playing up front and scoring goals.. what a ridiculous notion. Link to comment
The Oxford Don
The more Strachan speaks, the more I am convinced that he has completely chucked it. He should be removed from that post as quickly as possible for his own benefit. Link to comment

Picking strikers based on their defensive attributes instead of ability to score? Sums up Scottish football. 2 Link to comment

Lencarl
This tie will be the last game that Strachan will be overseeing as Scotland manager. England will defeat Scotland and Strachan will walk away. The SFA will thank him for the fantastic job he did as the Scottish boss and wish him well in his career as a media pundit. Link to comment

That's exactly what's going to happen. I'll even give you the final score: England 3 Scotland 1 Reading between the lines of Strachan's statement saying that he was carrying on, it's clear that he himself is not looking beyond the England game. For better or worse, some other poor unfortunate will be in charge for the next batch of qualifiers in the Spring of next year. Link to comment

vanderark14
Friday-Saturday. Paddington. Still no plans pre match yet. I'm staying in a hotel for the Friday night, staying near waterloo. Easy access to the Jubilee line to Wembley. the last train back to mine is at midnight so I don't want to risk it. I'm not sure I will bother heading to trafalgar square for the gathering Link to comment

strachanmcgheegoal
Beggars can't be choosers and if he could see us somehow snatch an unlikely win at Wembley then great. Not a Snodgrass fan but with his injury and the fact the English based boys will be scared to lay a glove on their club mates we're thin on the ground as it is. But its a dangerous move. If we get beat, pretty much ending our qualification chances, does he then get to pick and choose if he's available again? And how many other players does the principle apply to? If none of the 'big' players fancy it are players like, say, Shinnie supposed to stand in - possibly affecting their domestic form and also, in the unlikely event (no offence Shinster) they pull off the miracle and qualify that they'll then get dropped for cunts like Brown deciding they fancy it again. If a manager like Ferguson struggled to contain the Liverpool arrogance of the 80's which he basically blames for mexico 86 can you really see wee Gordy having the balls to tell the lego eater to fuck off? boboisared
Brown should play instead of Fletcher. No doubt we'll get both. Playing for Scotland has affected his Celtic form for years. He looked to be getting back to the player he used to be so this can only be good news for the Dons. Link to comment
Dynamo
It's incredibly difficult to cheer on Scott Brown even as a Scotland player. I'll be hoping for long term injury. Link to comment
