Sexism With Workwear Policies

Seems to be big in the news again just now and while I agree with the sentiments that some employers will be guilty of asking their female employees to make an effort, I find the reporting a bit one sided here.

I've worked in the office environment for years and while females have been allowed to dress for the season, I've pretty much been expected to turn up to work in shoes, trousers, shirt and for the first 10 years or so of my career, a tie.

Now, why is it that I a male, should be expected to wear a shirt and tie regardless of weather and office temperature, while females can come in wearing anything ranging from a light top to layers with a thick jumper (and undoubtedly it will be them who control air con/heating in such environments!).

Why is it culturally acceptable for a male to be pigeon-holed in to what is deemed to be business appropriate appearance, but it ain't for females?

Any office I have ever worked in the vast majority of those commenting on what folk wear are the women.

It then gets spun as sexism as men wanting wifies to look sexy at work...

Excellent post.

The difference is that men aren't moaners.

In work men just get on with the job, whereas women are constantly thinking about themselves and what they can moan about next.

Attempting to stipulate a dress code for women would bring the usual accusations of sexism, patriarchy etc

It's an interesting point.

Why do fatties insist on wearing clothing, such as leggings or jeggings, that cling to their plump bodies.

Quite a puzzler.

In my experience a lot of fatties wear compression wear because they think it thins them out. If they wear baggy outfits they feel even bigger than they actually are and it lowers their self esteem.

Simples.

I'd be sacked for being a seedy cunt within first four hours oh being in an office.

You'd be fine RD.

Just pick your target and time / place. They all like the attention, just make sure the reds aren't playing at home, reactions can vary wildly.

The work lift is a good place to start. Make sure there are no cameras though. What happens in the lift, stays in the lift!
