mavv1903
Was posted as 11,700 think it was.. Now I sit in RD lower and looking about stadium thought it was more. Cant say it looked to me as 10,000 empty seats. Are we fudging the attendance figures ? Link to comment
NEM
Do we include corporate folk in the overall attendance? Looked more than 11,700 to me as well tbh Link to comment
mavv1903
no sure on the corporate....When you sit and look about the stadium always looking a bit fuller than attendance figures suggest though. Link to comment

minijc
Wasn't there at the weekend but been to plenty of games where the official crowd has been way lower than what looked to be there. Link to comment

MegaloDon
crowds have always looked more than we think. for as long as I remember, even when it was all standing. (except main stand). it's a good reason for building a larger capacity ground than what they're planning. Link to comment
graham
Agree,it is always difficult to predict the crowd on an average Saturday afternoon. You can tell it's a poor 7,000 or 8,000 Sunday lunchtime v St Johnstone under Craig Brown ! and you know it is a good day 15,000+ European tie,Celtic,Rangers,Dundee United when they are gong well,Christmas New Year games. Most of the time it is 11,000-12,000 odd, even if the team is doing well.Remember away support helps.I thought there was a good crowd Saturday too in a busy South Stand. But the away end, upper tier Dick Donald,Merkland Stand, wings of the Main Stand always just a smattering of supporters at a run of the mill match. In the 1980s Aberdeen were the best team in Europe and 12,000 was a good turn out when Airdrie and Morton came to town. Chewie37
What would the motivation for that be?I'd imagine it affects sponsorship and TV deals, etc (Etc is in there to cover all other options and make me still seem clever) 1 Link to comment

shut up meg
No way would they be increasing the numbers for a Scottish Cup game as Partick are entitled to half of the gate. Link to comment
Dynamo
Crowd's are poor. Problem is a lot of Aberdeen fans just don't seem to be regulars. Look at this forum for example. I doubt 50% of the regular posters attend 75%+ home games. Not making this into a who's a better fan debate, just an observation. Of course there are reasons - geography, cost, other commitments but other clubs also have those same reasons. This team should be getting better crowds. It's always quite sad seeing the 'Family Stand' sit so empty. Sunday was shocking. Link to comment
strachanmcgheegoal
Putting Concerns about the family stand itself aside (shite view and a vocal sweaty (tried to say sweary but spellcheck changed it so I'll run with it)) singing section this is where the sevco factor kicks in. We've won one trophy in fuck knows years and lived within our means. The result is families really not giving one large fuck. I don't want pure glory hunters in the stand and I don't want a team full of Paul Bernard's and Craig hignetts. But you have to acknowledge it's a factor and be prepared to be ruthless with others who may seek to circumvent that reality. Link to comment

360
When the dust has settled on the new lego brick stadium plans, and we all realise that revamping Todders is the only option available, the new, steeper Merkland stand with an unobstructed view will be a sight to behold. Link to comment

Robbie Winters
I reckon that even if the game had not been on live TV on Sunday the crowd would not have broken the 13k mark.Games against everyone probably bar Celtic, Sevco, Hearts, perhaps Hibs and a decent European team will not break the 13k mark. For example Saturday will see Motherwell at "Todders" for the 3rd time in just over 3 months and with a bunch of other run of the mill SPFL games folk just are not bothered about attending these matches. That's why our crowds are shit now. If we didn't explode crowds wise when we were thr best team in Europe and we were one of the few cities not struggling financially things are not going to take off now we are miles behind celtic and a lot of people are struggling. I don't think it's even about winning, we have always had poor turn outs going back to I think 95/96 semi final which wasn't on TV v hearts our section was half empty on a Saturday at 3pm. The reason the family stand was so empty on Sunday was the lack of price differential so the main stand was full of kids giggling and capering and generally annoying me and my fellow sweetie wrapper rustlers. 1 Link to comment
