Old manny
Just watched an interview with PG on the Robert Peston show and after my initial reaction, based solely on his appearance, that he was just another tattooed prick who didn't know his arse from his elbow and reinforcing my prejudice that modern musicians are all thick fucks, but five minutes of listening to the guy soon changed my opinion. After revealing that both his old man and his uncle had committed suicide he went on to discuss death and how men found it difficult to open up about it and basically said the only emotion we are good at expressing is anger. Within two minutes both Peston and Hillary Benn started discussing the early deaths of their wives, which they probably never would have without Green's openness. Is he right? Link to comment
Poodler
I don't want to talk about it In all seriousness, it's a topic close to my heart. Some days I will speak, others I won't. Much is being made of late encouraging mannies to speak about how they feel. I was in counselling at the start of the year, driving the woman nuts. 'How do you feel?AriteThat word is banned. Tell me how you feel Ok It's sometimes impossible to get those words out. Maybe why so much meltdowns happen on here Link to comment

BrianFaePerth
Damnit, thought this was a misplaced Celebrity death post. There is more to him than the tattooed prick look he gives off. Eh canna abide his politics but must admit he has a point when it comes to talking about death. Link to comment

Eh canna abide his politics but must admit he has a point when it comes to talking about death. He certainly strikes a chord with me and I imagine a good few others on here who have experienced the loss of family members before their time. Your right he is no prick and he does seem to go against the celebrity stereotype we are used to. My initial reaction is he has something to say and is worth listening to. Fine change from the usual gibberish we are subjected to from the great and the good. Link to comment

Poodler
I 'save the lives' of others that's good enough for me. I'm resigned to my own fate. I had my chance to save one more and the best I could do was bring the drugs over. Should've spoke. Didn't. No going back. 13.38 phonecall, swinging by 13.50. Talk it out. Just don't ask me how to do it Link to comment
BrianFaePerth
Hillary Benn is a disgrace - his old man was 1000 times the man that he is https://youtu.be/HfXmpJRZPYI (Good rice and sweet and sour sauce, though)Tony Benn was a proper politician. You didn't have to agree with his views (most were the opposite of mine) to respect them. He was committed to his cause and never played to the masses unlike some. Link to comment

Just watch those floodgates open. Ahmen! My old man killed himself when I was 16, was right in the middle of my standard grades, so didn't have to sit a few exams...every cloud... On a serious note I wasn't really fussed about it, my mum and dad were split for about 7 years and I was living with my mum, only saw him now and again even though he only lived a few miles away, he worked a lot and wasn't very affectionate, so I don't think it really affected me at all not having him around. Think I had a greet with my sister the night before her wedding when I was 18 but that's it. Now I am older I am a bit more upset about it, but more pissed off I never got to hang around with him as an adult, like go for a pint or watch the boxing etc., I'm jealous of people who can do that with their old man. The last time I saw him was a few days before, he emptied all the change from the ashtray in his jeep into my hands like he always did, then he telt me he loved me, which I had never heard him say before, should have known something was up! Good last memory though. Link to comment
Fridge
Fucking hell min, we’re all just here to get torn into Millertime. In all seriousness that must have and still be horrendous. Never had to go through any major bereavement and dread the day when it does. Must be horrendous and I feel for you. Link to comment
BrianFaePerth
Sorry to hear that Pash. It amazes me a Dad (not your dad per se) could do that. That said, it's beyond my understanding how you get in to the mindset that that is the only solution. Link to comment
BrianFaePerth
I hope you never have to deal with it is all I can say on the matter. It's horrible, horrible place.A friend of mine gassed himself back when we were in our 20s. All the signs were there right before he did it, not a single one of us - friends, family alike noticed. Awful stuff. The devastation knocked 20 years off his old mans life, he never recovered. Link to comment
