Tactics V Celtic Today In League Cup Final

Recommended Posts

If we go 4-5-1 which is more than likely and have Cosgrove, Wilson or May up front with a midfield of Shinnie, Freguson, Ball, McGinn and GMS or whatever, we MUST get 1 of the central midfielders up near the striker for most of the game if we're to have a chance. The wingers will be wide trying to get crosses into the striker so someone in the middle needs to push forward. If we don't, our chances of winning are very slim. Simple as that. I've lost count of the times this season when we've put balls up to the striker and they get it, flick it on or lay it off when they are 25 yards or whatever from goal but our nearest player is in the centre circle.

Celtic's defence is used to having time and they are not that great when under pressure.

Back in the 80s when Erick Black won the ball, most of the time he had a midfielder running near him to lay the ball off to, whether it was Strachan, Simpson, Cooper or Weir, etc.

Plus we need to close them down like Motherwell did to us last week. Get stuck in.

Manager Derek I hope you are reading this.

Let's be in full voice and try to outsing Celtic.

If we do all of these things, we will have a fighting chance.

If we win today then the performance doesn't matter. If we lose them it does.

Lose meekly and I'll be pissed off. Lose but give it everything they've got I'll cry like a baby but be a proud Don.

2 - 0 the Dons. Early goal. Celtic will give it everything they've got and Anderson will then pop up with the 2nd.

Euphoria in the stands. Dad wets himself (again)! COYR.

Fuck if we score after a minute then sit in our box and win I'm taking it.

Fair shout...early goal and defending like fuck works too.  You just know that if that happens and McInnes ends up subbing off all our offensive players for holding/defensive types....that's when the fuckers will equalise.

Either that or extra time with our biggest offensive threat being headers from Mckenna.
