Almost as important as correctly appointing a new manager is getting the recruitment side of the club correct as well. Unfortunately for Derek McInnes there were more misses than hits. As I understood it Russ Richardson and Derek McInnes oversaw the entire recruitment process whilst McInnes was in charge. Anyone know what the plan is going forward with the new management team?

Short term surely rely on players known to the management team.

By next summer hopefully a more professional approach is in place.

That’s a worry if it’s “players known to the management team”......3 Jon Gallaghers incoming? 

Slightly facetious maybe, but I do actually expect a couple of Atlanta loans to come in. 

As the OP says, recruitment is massive, & you do question what knowledge Stephen Glass will have of Scotland/England/Europe

Really need to get recruitment in order for this to work. Glass, Russell and Brown definitely should have a say and bring in anyone they think would improve us but ultimately there should be a recruitment process where they are bringing x player to managers attention. 
 

Is there any recruiter/directors of football in the lower divisions we could poach? Don’t know enough about lower league teams in England or Europe but can’t think of any club off top my head that have recruited largely better than anyone else in league 1 and 2 in England  for example?

Russell should have some decent knowledge of up and coming young English prospects you’d expect.Affording them/convincing them to come to us could be a sticking point though, but some game time in a more physical league to toughen them up could be the sell to get some hungry point to prove types.

Another young Maddison type would be welcomed.

I don't think DC was praising the qualities of Gallagher, I think he was trying to make the point that Atlanta gave us a player on loan that cost us nothing Financially and I think the point he was trying to make is that they are willing to loan us players that will not impact the budget, obviously we all hope the next ones we get from Atlanta will be of better quality than Gallagher. He also mentioned that Mackenzie was due to go to them on loan in August but Covid put paid to that

We are in about that but we are way behind a rijeka, or a limassol or a sevco in terms of recruiting players from all leagues, all backgrounds etc.

Genuinely do not know as it’s not been asked or reported.

You’d think a question about the “Head of Recruitment” would be high up on a half decent journalists list of questions when a manger leaves/is appointed.

I would question how many of the signings you are assuming are from Richardson are actually from McInnes?

I'm not arguing that he needs the dunt but just it should be mcinnes getting the abuse for at least 75% of the recruitment.

Edit because my impression is McInnes, and occasionally Cormack, continually bypassed Richardson
