The Luis Lopes Thread

Spending fees on actual football players from actual football clubs makes it seem like we're genuinely looking to be ambitious.

Often with Aberdeen it just feels like we're cutting corners, panic buying substandard emergency players, and shooting for there or thereabouts instead of the top spot, as difficult as shooting for the top spot might be.

We might crash and burn, having pissed a massive chunk of cash on substandard emergency players, but I'm actually feeling positive this season.

Course that's what Aberdeen likes to do to us... get us feeling confident, then they shove a broken mop handle up your arsehole and scream, "PSYCHE!" in your delicate little earhole.

Anyway, more of this and less of the mop, cheers.

Another positive signing, I'm liking how we're going about our business so far.

Welcome aboard loon!!

Certainly a lot more inspiring than the dark days of Gleeson, Forrester, Main et al. Genuinely looking forward to this season :sheepdance:

Luis, Luis, go getta goal
Luis, Luis, go getta goal
Little Jimmy Goodwin he waits for me
Me catch the ship for cross the sea
I sail the ship all alone
I never think me make it home
Luis, Luis, oh go getta goal
Luis, Luis, go getta goal
Three nights and days me sail the sea
Me think of Goodwin constantly
On the ship I dream he there
I smell the rose in his hair
Luis, Luis, oh go getta goal
Luis, Luis, go getta goal
Me see Jamaica moon above
It won't be long, me see my love
Me take him in my arms and then
I tell him I never leave again
Luis, Luis, oh go getta goal
Luis, Luis, go getta goal
I say, go getta goal
I say, go getta goal

And to think we spent £400,000 on that cunt Stevie May

I hate being negative, but there was plenty of excitement about May coming, and about one of Gleeson or Forrester (can't remember which). There's a long list of players who have arrived to the fanfare of trumpets and left to the sound of a sad trombone.

Having said that, this guy's going to be amazing.

Anyone who was getting frustrated with Aberdeen fans who were keen to sell our bear players….. this is why. Let’s hope we make even more money off these investments.

Play football that at least isn’t eye bleeding my boring, get some results and we might even start progressing

This 100%. Been saying for a number of years we needed to get smarter on trading players and it was always met with comments of why do you want to sell your best players.

On to Duk.

I don't believe any youtubes anymore after Jon Galllagher looked utter amazing for Bobby Clark's college team

He'll bang them in up here then. The defending last season from the vast majority of the league was absolutely woeful.

11 in 42 in a reserve league for what is probably one of the top sides in that league?  No doubt Goodwin is pulling out signings we've never heard of from afar but are they inspired or are we getting them from a lucky bag? I'm reserving judgement for now.

Hopefully now that we actually have someone sourcing players we'll get the kind of guy in that we need to play the role Goodwin requires of them.

For example, it was probably incompatible JET playing in any role except fat, lazy waster, and while Goodwin needed someone who could make runs at the defence and support the attack what he had was, in fact, JET.

Would like to think Goodwin has utilized Mowbray's "extensive knowledge of the UK and European markets" to find relative bargains that fit the way he wants to play.

Because with the endless info on google, mobile phones , texting, you tube videos, zoom,  fast, easy connectivity to many coaches/managers in Europe/the world and countries with endless talent only a couple of hours away in a flight, it mustve been soooooo difficult.

Thank fuck someone at Aberdeen FC finally has a laptop.
