Shayden Morris

Okkels has got a nice right peg on him. Nisbets goal and he’s had a few good shots in games. Don’t think he is that slow just not as rapid as Morris. There is a player there and Jimmy knows it.

It begs the question why he has been so poor so far. I know he has not been fit and a new league etc.

But is there more to it than that?

He could have bagged a couple of goals already. A good save and a ball hair distance offside prevented him getting goals. He has gone missing at times but hasn’t had the minutes on the pitch. I’m not saying I think he’s been brilliant, far from it, but I’ve seen glimpses of good technique with maybe a lack of minutes.

The eternal puzzle of Shayden Morris is can he play well from the start.Man of the match v Queen's Park and had his defender on toast but St Johnstone playing for their place in the league will send him ten feet up in the air and into the crowd.Could be excellent again as impact sub, in lucky 2-1 Dons triumph in Perth ,"always a difficult place to go" !!

It is a puzzle. He is improving generally though, and there are little bits more coming in to his game all the time.

I wouldn't mins seeing him start, Queens Park to St Johnstone shouldn't be a huge step up in standard and they are not the hammer throwers they once were

Looking forward to seeing Morris continuing his great form and consolidating a first team start. Will St J target him knowing he is lightweight at defending? Prove them wrong Shayden and you just might have turned a corner in your development.

Or just double up, show him inside and laugh.

Feel free to prove me wrong Shaydz.

That's OK, if he gets outside and crosses it suits Dabbagh, if they force him inside with Nisbet now dropped a bit deeper he should have more space if they have doubled up on Morris, so hopefully an out ball there.

Feeling optimistic today

He really needs to vary his game a bit to put doubt in the opposition. Last week every so often he cut inside rather than going to the byline every time, and its far more productive overall, even given his ridiculous pace.

If he adds this to his game then move onto next target improvement - passing. Likeable guy, really hope he can kick on.

Folk will forget and this entire conversation will happen again in 2 weeks time when he gets an assist coming on for the last 20 mins against Motherwell

Reminiscent of the Monty Python goldfish sketch.

"Morning! Morris should start"

"But he's shit"

"Oh aye, so he is

Morning!........."

Aye, their back up left back as well.

He's murder. The majority of his assists have come against lower league teams. He's not fit for the level we expect or deserve.

Tbf he’s been ok coming off the bench, like both games at home vs Dundee Utd

dont think he’s at the level we require (same goes for a lot of the squad)

Shayden had a shocker in a team that had a shocker. Don't understand why anyone's getting singled out today.

Disagree he's ineffectual when starting. His cameos tend to be more impressive, but he's had games where he's made an impact from the start.

And while Morris wasn't great today, Okkels has been consistently poor when starting. Shayden's earned the right to have a run of games in the starting eleven. One game and out would be ridiculous (especially given the alternative).

We never gave him the ball in space. So slow to play forward so everytime he got the ball St Johnstone were set up ready for him. Palaversa's passing today was awful. Our slowness and inaccuracy passing forward was why none of our front players got pass marks. Thelin subs today were also mince. Brings on Pape and Okkels who did nothing . Both ended up playing wide. Neither seem able or willing to cross a ball.
