Looks like we have a rough idea of who the potential opponets would be, think Lugano or Fora Tallinn are the prefered draws

You'd fancy our chances against 4 of those 8 sides. Probably very little chance against the other 4 though.

Does it not depend on the team we have at that point though? 

I'd want to see the line up first before making that call.

That's true. I guess it just makes it all the more important we have our squad in place by the time these games come around and aren't scrambling about for last minute signings on deadline day by which time it may be too late.

If our luck in Euro draws over the past 10 years is anything to go by then yeah, it always feels like we draw the highest seeded team we could get.

Thats how I am looking at it and there might be a couple of sneaky minnows that creep in to the Pot 3 list as there is due to be a few upsets in qualifying

Exactly. Brighton are entering Europe for the first time in their history, they are ranked 85th and their coefficient is 21.328. Our ranking is 292 and our coefficient is 8.000.

The draw for the 1st Qualifying Round of the Champions League takes place tomorrow. This is the round where up to 5 of the possible 8 sides we could meet in our Europa League Play Off start their European campaigns. The draw for the 2nd Qualifying Round follows on Wednesday.

In this round the more unseeded teams who win their ties the better for us really. As a reminder the 10 losing teams from CL-Q2 drop into EL-QR3 where the will face an unseeded draw out of which the 5 winning teams will progress to Pot 3 for the Play Off Draw. As we will be in Pot 1 we will play a team in either Pot 3 or 4.

So the draws we want to be looking out for are the ones involving FK Astana, Maccabi Haifa, Zalgiris Vilnius, HJK Helsinki and Flora Tallinn... is that right? And then hope that some of them are knocked out by unseeded teams?

Yes to an extent...

If all QR1 & 2 ties go the way of the seeded teams then those 5 teams would be in the EL-QR3 draw along with Shamrock Rovers, The New Saints, Olimpija Ljubljana, Zrinjski Mostar & Aris Limassol.

Now where it gets interesting is that the EL-QR3 draw is not seeded so potentially you could have the highest 2 ranked teams (Astana & Maccabi Haifa) drawn against each other or even the bottom 2 ranked teams (Zrinjski Mostar & Aris Limassol) drawn against each other.
