Gordon is fit again. If he can't get his place back in the Hearts team ahead of Clark, he certainly can't get back in the Scotland squad. Having said that, the sevco reserve 'keeper is in the squad so maybe he could??

He's working his way back. Played some reserve minutes but that's been it.

It's a bit of a stretch to suggest he "can't get his place back" just yet IMO.

Bet the pullouts come galore now we've qualified.

Hopefully Ferguson gets some good minutes.

One thing I love about this Scotland team is the lack of call offs. Used to be the senior guys like Ferguson and lambert setting the tone by calling off cause they had their 30th old firm of the season coming up. Now you’ve got Andy Robertson who’s won literally everything turning up every time (well… when he’s got a shoulder)

Why would you not include Ben Doak?

I think Clarke is biding his time and trying to make it difficult to get in this team.

But it worries me a little because Southgate hands caps out like sweeties and I suspect he’d happily cap a few lads just to make them unavailable for us.

Our forward options are dismal

Nothing new there!

Dalglish netted his 30th and last goal in November 1984 in a 3-1 win over Spain. Since then, we really haven't had a prolific goal-scorer, a consistent goal-scorer, it's all been dribs and drabs. John McGinn has been fantastic, he a grafter and he's skilful, clinical. But no one else is. You need three or four of that quality. Going into the Euros, are we going to score goals? Not just against the "big" teams, but against Switzerland, Hungary, Austria even Albania? Romania have only let in four goals, Slovakia five (four of those were from rampaging Portugal).

There won't be easy matches for anyone next summer, we're in a different age now. France will not be keen to play Albania, Kazakhstan, Serbia, Hungary and Turkey seem to be back in business after a decade in the doldrums. This tournament will see the toughest paths to a Quarter Finals ever, I reckon. And don't forget Ukraine and Israel. What needs to be said? They'll be in a state of mania if they are in Germania next summer. Mania in Germania, great album.

Always rated Mo Johnston for Scotland.

Thank fuck for him in the mid to late 80s

Graeme Sharp, Alan McInally,  David Speedie and Brian McClair were the strikers who were consistently picked then

Yeah, I was going to mention Mo in my most but refrained due to him being double trouble as a Tim AND Hun!

The overhead kick against Cyprus is superb! I remember my dad having to explain what an overhead kick was the next day! I'd heard of overhead pylons and I pictured something very weird! Aye, Mo was some player, a great poacher, clinical. Italia '90 could have been so different had we been at full strength. Brazil were in transition and Romario was not 100% after recovering from a broken leg. What a duo that was in the qualifiers - Careca and Romario.

2026 World Cup will be FUCKING INSANE and we Scots MUST be there. Don't let some boring nation like Denmark be there and not us. No offence to Denmark! Their fans were silent in the stands in Qatar and the team was just as lifeless.

Who's he done that with previously to make you concerned about that?

I’ve got to say I think Clarke is missing a trick now if he can’t move to the next phase of building this team- these 2 games are a good chance to bring a few new faces into each squad and give them a chance to see what the team is about.

We might need Doak, Bowie, Johnson or if its to be a wildcard like Ryan Gauld or whatever let’s take a look at a few other options now while we can and if we need them later they will already know what the drill is within Clarkes set up.

Southgate? He caps a lot of players- not to foil us obviously that was a bit facetious of me.

But there are a few kids knocking around who can play for both countries and I know we don’t want to be pursuing these guys because they need to really want it but equally we shouldn’t be too stand offish or they’ll be capped by England in a flash.

Agreed

But if we need to convince them, like Anderson at Newcastle, stuff em

Agree with that too- but let’s not go out of our way to be too snotty about it either.

If we had called Anderson up a couple of years ago he’d be our player now I think. He’s wavering now because he thinks he might get to play in a bigger team and go to more championships- and Southgate has said he likes him as a player.

So if he even thinks about that for a sec,  he can get tae
