otherwise, what’s the point.

Spot on.

Another summer with our DoF allowing the recruitment of another hugely imbalanced squad will cause even more damage than has already been done.

This year’s flavour of the month is a lack of wide options and creativity. The last couple of seasons have featured a lack of centre defence in one season and lack of centre mid in an another. That’s on him. Well out of his depth, and not unexpected as a career plodder. Apparently a nice amiable hard working chap. I’ve no doubts about that. But his CV says career plodder. An administrator. This role is his career high point. He’ll never get anything remotely at this level within football or I suspect anywhere else again.

Because I’m bored and have some spare time this morning.

IMO our permanent recruitment since Summer 2021:

Great

Bojan Miovski

Good

Christian Ramirez

Dante Polvara

Ylber Ramadani

Duk

Nicky Devlin

Jamie McGrath

Ok

Scott Brown

Angus MacDonald

Leighton Clarkson

Graeme Shinnie

Slobodan Rubezic

Below Average

Marley Watkins

Kelle Roos

Ester Sokler

Ross Doohan

James McGarry

Richard Jensen

Shite

Jack Gurr

JET

Declan Gallagher

Gary Woods

David Bates

Jayden Richardson

Anthony Stewart

Calum Roberts

Pape Habib Gueye

Shayden Morris

We’ve also taken in 16 players in on loan the last few years with arguably only getting worthwhile varying contributions from Scales, Pollock, Shinnie & Clarkson

I'd say Duk and Ramadani were both great signings, just not as great as Bojan

Clarkson is frustrating because he was good - great last season on loan but now he's permanent he's slumped to 'ok'

Sokler is one I still find hard to judge.  He's obviously never going to be the number one striker while Bojan is here and has been limited mostly to 10 - 15 minutes here and there.  If Bojan wasn't so awesome and we gave Sokler more starts, would he get himself up to the 'ok' or even 'good' level in your rating system?

Sokler is a headless chicken IMO.

Maybe it’s because he feels he has to do something in the limited time he’s on the pitch.
His second touch usually has to be a tackle.

The goal against Frankfurt(?) was an anomaly I think.

Replacing Miovski successfully is unlikely to happen seeing as he’s the best striker we’ve had at the club for 30 years. Since Gilhaus.
A “generational” level striker for us.

£100k for Ramadani was daylight robbery. Should have been sold for x2/3 what we let him go for. His absence this season is certainly going to cost us another £1m ish as well. Crazy that we a stumbled across him by accident as well.

Clarkson really annoyed me the other day. Only ever looking to play the Hollywood pass every time he gets the ball. Fair enough that’s probably what Robson was telling him to do, but Warnock isn’t.

Sokler is a difficult one to judge. Has shown glimpses but understandably hasn’t been given much of a chance with Miovski top dog here. Maybe we’ll see what he can do next season once Miovski has moved on.

With Sokler I wonder how he'd be doing if he was the first choice striker at another SPL team like Motherwell, St. Johnstone, Dundee or St. Mirren.

Totally agree with Miovski being a generational talent.  We need to enjoy him whilst he's here.  I'll be very surprised if he's still here when the summer window shuts.

I'd need to see Sokler with a run of games but I agree for me he makes runs but the wrong ones.

On Miovski I don't think he plays aswell when Duk plays...just an opinion.

Clarkson is too lightweight and has lost confidence big style.

For me it's almost a full rebuild required in summer, could maybe say Full backs are ok ish with McKenzie and Devlin but they need competition.

Keepers - new No1 with Ritchie back up.

centre halfs there all shite for me, Rubby might make something of himself though.

Mids, Barron Clarkson, McGrath and Polvara can all play football just who's left come season 24/25, could do with a replacement for Shinnie aswell

Wingers - we need as we have none.

Forwards Miovski and Duk are likely to leave and for me and cut loses on Pape and Solker,  I'd go for a decent striker and give Bavidge minutes, but I think he might get a season at a premiership rival...just saying. 🤔

I agree there's another massive rebuild required.

Can't see any of the players out of contract this summer staying (apart from Hayes getting a coaching only role)

Miovski and Duk certainties to be sold, hopefully for big fees

We might also see players like Richardson, Morris and Vinnie moved on for more modest fees.

Shinnie already showing he's in decline.

That leaves about 15 or 16 players, half of whom aren't good enough to be squad players and either need to be moved on or sent out on loan until they are good enough

Getting fees in for Richardson and Morris is the most optimistic statement I think I've seen in years.

I think I'm correct in saying both are contracted for another 2 years in the summer.

There seems be a bit of rumoured interest from Colchester in signing Richardson outright. At best, I think we'd allow him to leave for free so long as they took over his contract (if indeed, the rumour is true)

Morris I think we are stuck with. His confidence must be completely shot after what happened against Motherwell. He needs away from us asap but I'm just not sure who would want him, even on loan with us covering virtually all his wages. I've a nasty feeling he'll be with us until his contract expires.

I did say "modest" fee, I'm not expecting to recover what we paid for them.  I do however expect an EFL2 or English non-league team will remember them from their days down South and be willing to take them on.  That's about their level and I don't think it's unreasonable to think teams in those leagues would be interested and have the required budget to take them off our hands, albeit at a loss on our side.  FFS, I'm sure Scunthorpe actually gave us a token fee For Callum Robertson, and they're a level below that.

Weird opinion

Did you watch Aberdeen last season? Or even this season when theyve linked up for goals recently?
