Presumably not a detached retina. Family member recently had a retinopexy. It’s the recovery process and time that it takes that is a complete bastard. Not good at all. Link to comment

I wouldnt have thought it'd be a career ender though Link to comment

Anyways, good quiz question, who was our last active player who had to properly retire from injury? Did Paul Hartley not retire with a busted knee Link to comment

Not good at all. A mate of mine has had retina op twice for detachment. Spent days in hospital both times laid face down and basically not being able to move much to allow things to start healing. Took fair while of rest thereafter before getting back to work 1 Link to comment

Cerny only played twice I think. Both at Easter Road with first time as sub for Lewis after he clattered post and fans chanted the Sha La La Tomas Cerny on loop and next time was final game of season and Lewis was in stand with fans due to injury. Think it was Shinnie farewell game Link to comment

a don in oz
If it is a detached retina then he can't do anything contact or jarring or really much exertion for many months. Would be amazed if he's back for pre-season. Has anyone with the club actually said that was it? I read the P&J thing online and all Thelin said was freak eye injury. Link to comment

Ok maybe it wasn't in the online version or I skimmed coz I saw that he was back to Norway but didn't notice mention of the actual injury. Just re-checked and yeah it just says the retina needing to calm down but not the injury itself; not in that story at least.
