I can pass on min is that Blackpool must have been very poor back then as AFC, under the management of Tommy Pearson, were grim. @Poodlerhas kindly provided a very informative link for you to look over st your leisure. If @Captain Cavemanwas still posting, he would've provided you with the relevant information you seek. 1 1 Link to comment

Weirdly Blackpool were actually in one of the better phases of their history with a prolonged period in the top division. 1 Link to comment

Very true min. IIRC they finished FA Cup runners-up in 1948 (losing to Manchester United in the final) and 1951 (getting beat by Newcastle United (one of the Magpies' last ever domestic trophy successes)). Finally Blackpool won the cup in 1953, when Stan Mortensen, who played for AFC during WWII, scored a hat-trick. Their side also included legends Stanley Matthews and one club man Jimmy Armfield. Finished runners-up in the top division a few tears before we played them in the friendly, in question. 1 Link to comment

YorksRed
To our Blackpool friend, looking at the Aberdeen line up the number 8, was the Charlie Cooke (laterly Chelsea) he played for Aberdeen in the early 60's Link to comment
