Clydeside_Sheep
Does anyone else have one of these? I bought one (don't know what I was thinking) and was pretty underwhelmed by it. I got home from Morrisons, eager to wolf my Guinness asap, to be shocked by the info saying you need to chill the cans for 24 hrs and charge the device for 8 hrs, FFS. Seems way OTT, plus the fact they charge £30 for the device yet it has an "old fashioned" style USB slot didn't seem great value. I had my cans, but after drinking didn't feel like rigorously cleaning and brushing the device, like it says you have to after every use. It invariably dripped / leaked in use too, despite me following the hugely involved procedure to the letter. Overall review - a real faff and a waste of £30. Doubt I would bother using it again. I like Guinness but dislike how fussy it is and the whole nonsensical cult around it - you know, "its better in Ireland", "you need to clean the pipes", "blah blah blah" - all pish. (They make it in Africa FFS, how hard can it be?) The traditional draught cans only seem to come in 440ml now, so it looks like it could be a pub only drink. My preferred instructions for having a beer at home are: (i) open container (ii) pour down throat. Link to comment

Did you keep your receipt and the item's packaging?🤔 Link to comment

manboobs109
Guinness is class but they do like a marketing gimmick. I know a boy that paid £750 for a machine that pours cans. Mental stuff. Link to comment
manboobs109
You've got to clean the lines properly though. Bowfing otherwise. Link to comment

Guiness 100% tastes better in Ireland some of the pints I've had there are night and day compared to some of the pints I've had elsewhere. Had a pint in Aberdeen airport a few weeks back, absolute shite! The stuff made in Africa is crap IMO. Link to comment

Just like if a bar doesn't clean its lines of Tennent's Ember properly (or any of its lines for that matter), the beer poured from its tap is truly awful. Link to comment

Cumulatively, I would say it took me around 2 hours effort and perseverance (phone calls and emails) to get the total compo. However, I had to wait quite a while for responses and receipts of compo. Well worth it in the end mind.👍 Link to comment

The best pints of Guiness I've had have been in Ireland. The Crown Bar in Belfast being particularly awesome (NI I know before anyone points it out!). You get a pint thats been poured properly, left to sit for 2 mins and then topped up. When you get your pint theres about an inch or creamy head on top, 3 or four scoops to finish your pint and the head is still there in the bottom of your glass when the pints gone, just stays there and slides down the glass with every gulp. A fantastic creamy pint with loads of body. Far, far superior to the pish I have tasted elsewhere. If I knew how to post images on here I could demonstrate visually! 🤪 1 Link to comment
