Player Trading Model - Runners & Riders

Recommended Posts

We're all aware of our player trading model at the club, which is to buy emerging talent, develop them and hopefully sell them on for a decent profit. We appear to be on the right path to that extent.

Who do you all reckon, out of current squad, will be the guys we'll look to sell on, a la Miovski and which one's stand the best chance? Ramsay's sale was kinda out of the blue in terms of the club he went to and the money we took in for him. So who's next and who will bring home the bacon for Dave's prawcess?

Duk would've been one had he not decided to foxtrot oscar

Would say Keskinen, Rubezic, Molloy (maybe), Bavidge, Fletcher Boyd and Lewis Caroll

Think guys like Besuijin, Ambrose, Geuye were signed to develop on an sell but unsure on the first two if we'll recoup what we paid

Molloy for me so far looks to be a great find/bit of scouting. I've been very impressed with him and how he's performed and settled in.

Him and big Ruby looks good so far apart from the calamitous gift to St Mirren.

Mackenzie could easily go for a good price given how much he's improved.

Players like McGrath if we could get him to sign an extension could fetch a pretty penny if a release clause was inserted. Clarkson is another who could easily command a decent fee should he continue to develop.

A few others could also potentially net big money for us.

Rubezic probably at the head of the queue perhaps?

Duk is a big disappointment - both Duk and the Dons have fucked that up.

Palaversa, I'd think has potential to go on for a big bucks move.

Polvara, 10 million pound player easy.

Keskinen, probably.

Clarkson I'd hope will earn a couple million for us.

Have high hopes for Boyd.

Ruby is going to develop into a monster defender and play in Serie A.

Mitov, Bavvers, McKenzie will all go for good Pounds British.

Bez has potential, but I reckon we'll see fuck all for him.

More on Duk imo, yes Robson/Warnock totally shot his confidence but if he actually turned up for pre season and tried his best he’d have a chance to earn a move

Night and day difference between him and Miovski in terms of application

MacKenzie is the 2020s Considine, he'll be here for 300+ games.

Yep. My thoughts too. No matter how good he gets he'll be overlooked by other teams and that's fine by me if he keeps this up I'd be happy for him to be a 'lifer'.

Taking his time in signing a new deal if so.

I think Rubezic will go for somewhere between 1 and 2m which I think will be a decent profit given I'm sure we spent quite a small fee on him. However, I think he'll stick around a bit longer to develop. I have a feeling Keskinen will be a quick turnaround, perhaps after two seasons?

If the club had promised him a move at the deadline he'd have been involved in the 8 games

In tiers;
1. Keskinen, Ruby, Molloy*, Boyd could earn us big bucks

2. Clarkson, Polvara, Bavidge, McGrath could make us a couple of meelyons

3. Besuijen, Ambrose, big Pap, Mitov, Milne could net a wee profit or break even

4. Devlin, Shinnie, Nilsen, McDonald will probably retire with us or move for nothing once they're over the hill

5. Sokler, Morris, McGarry, Richardson bleh

McKenzie could be a tier 2, 3 or 4... he might just stay her forever

*Might be too early to call

Probably missed a few - obviously early days for a few of these guys to properly tell

I'm not too far away from that assessment myself to be honest.

There's a wee bit of a differnce between what we could consider our more sellable assets and those that we may have to try and move on instead of losing out on for nothing.

I've a feeling Ruby may get tapped up in the same way Ramadani & McRorie did, kind of out of the blue.

Can see Clarkson wanting to progress his career sooner or later and I reckon we'd easily sell him for £2m. More attacking players tend to me more of a commodity. That said, I think Ruby is the type of ball winning, no nonsense player who clubs would see as a no brainer.

Our younger players I'm not so sure about, though I do really like the look of Alfie Stewart. Obviously Boyd turned heads but he's the type of player who I'm not sure can hold down a starting role, so maybe sell to a club to develop for £1m. If we can sell these young lads each year for that sort of money, without having had to pay for them (other than wages), then that's free cash flow.

For me, it's Keskinen at the top of the list, then I suspect as a club, we've earmarked Palaversa. Close behind, McGrath but we need to extend his contract asap. Vinnie, Pape, Morris, Ambrose are all in the category of work in progress. If we cover our losses with them, I'd not be too upset.

I'm hopeful Thelin's good record of player trading will boost us going forward. Scandi market is where it's at for us I reckon.

Was there not a rumour in January that spurs were looking at ruby, up to 10 mil if I remember right...

Keskinen will be the main one that they'll want to flip for big money in a couple of years.

Rubi will improve but I think his pace will be the one thing that stops him going for big bucks.

We might get decent money for Boyd but only in the next couple of years as English clubs like to get Scottish players early so they can be counted as country trained a few years down the line.

Other than that I don't see anyone else going for Miovski money.  Maybe a few for Ramadani money.

Fair play in attempting a new discussion on here in spite of the inevitable dildoing.

I'd say Clarkson next, reckon he'll be magic this season.

This site is nothing if not a mirror image of our own fan base. You get a full spectrum of society at Aberdeen games. The good, the bad and yes, the ugly. If it's a popularity contest I guess I'm drinking in the wrong saloon, but hey, I've a pretty thick skin.

Agree with Clarkson. Damn shame he popped his collar bone or whatever it was as he was coming onto a right good game. Looking forward to seeing him slipping in Pape and Nisbet!
