Apparently we are working on January transfer targets already, 

I know that most clubs should be working on January transfers but good to hear it only a week after the summer transfer window closed.

Expecting to see a few Scandinavian fellas arrive in January. A left sided CB for sure seeing as we tried to bring the guy Bowat in.

We better be working on a new deal for McGrath as well.

The early signs are certainly looking like Keskinen and Nilsen have made the step up fairly comfortably. Bodes well

Surely with a club strategy in place , we are working on January and Summer 25! We know players are out of contract and will not accept or won’t be offered new deals under Jimmy

I see we have been watching Dylan Watret the young Ayr United right fullback. Already been on trial with Fulham and also being scouted by a host of top English clubs though so if he keeps up his current progress we may well get blown out the market for him by the cash they will probably offer.

Would love to see us cherry pick a few young Scottish talents while remoulding the team to suit Thelin’s style.

Young players with a bit of talent will develop so quickly under the coaching team we have now.

I'm all for getting the best talent we can afford, and if that means they're from foreign shores then so be it.

But agree we should be looking to get the best local talent we can as well.

When we qualify for European football again are we likely to struggle to meet home grown quotas?

If we were in europe this season we'd have the same squad for all competitions.

Last season we had to omit one foreigner player from europe and we left out Vinnie.

Even that could potentially be blagged until the summer depending on how Devlin and Milne have fared in the first half of the season.

Let's see where we are at the end of December. Things can change quickly in football. 

 

In any case, you should always be trying to improve. If the right opportunity is out there to do that then we need to be prepared to take it.

Probably only a player or two from meeting the quotas-  but @Tord31 is your man for that detail.

However would be quite happy to see us fill some of the backup/competition in the squad with a few young Scottish signings if we can find players Jimmy can develop.

Our squad (with Jensen away) is fine for europe this season.

Still makes sense to bring a young Scottish player or two in if they can be identified. Would be a good way to get cover for right back for example.

Obviously if we have the youngsters in the building we don’t need to.

It's not a strict 4 club trained and 4 Scotland/Association trained with 17 foreigners.

It's a minimum of 8 locally trained players to get 17 foreign to get a full 25 List A squad . If we have the minimum 8 only up to 4 of them can be Scotland trained and all the additional club youngsters under 21 are List B. 

"No club may have more than 25 players on List A during the season. As a minimum, eight places are reserved exclusively for "locally trained players" and no club may have more than four "association-trained players" listed in these eight places on List A. List A must specify the players who qualify as being "locally trained", as well as whether they are "club-trained" or "association-trained"."

It's hardly the end of the world if we have to include a couple of our youngsters in a 25 man squad. 

Anyway, probably best to qualify first before worrying about whether we have one too many foreign players for Europe or not.

Don’t think we’d need to include youngsters as they would be list B anyway.

Nobodies worried about it- the conversation was just about the sort of recruitment we should make in the next 6-12 months with Europe in mind.

Worry about January nearer the time. Squad is looking decent. Get our own lads signed up.

No desperate need for more bodies but it would be awesome to see this squad made even better, even if it’s just a tweak to sell someone like Bez and replace with Keskinan mk 2

Oh and punt or loan Ambrose.

I think we missed a trick by not trying to sign Lennon Miller in the summer. He'd going to earn Motherwell a good few Million

Weve got the cash to offer over £1m in January if we wanted to.

On other side of the coin weve picked up Nilsen and Palaversa for much, much smaller fees.

I think on balance we are well covered in central midfield and need to focus on keeping our five lads happy.
