Clydeside_Sheep
What drinks do you remember from the past, which are now much diminished or seemingly gone forever? Caffreys Kilkennys - was never really convinced by this (Re the above two, I suppose there is a natural limit to the Irish Ale market, which Guinness and Murphys have had sown up for ages) 70 Shilling and 80 Shilling - you never see these now. (I liked a pint of 80/-, complimented by Club fags and Grilled Onion McCoys.) Tennents Velvet - an offshoot of the above 70/80 "Ice" versions of Lagers - in particular I remember Fosters Ice and Labatt Ice. I enjoyed these as a teen, but would now scorn their weedy 330ml bottles. I liked Labatt Ice in particular, as it was a healthy 5.6%. There was Bud Ice too, think that's defunct too. Miller - whatever happened to that? It used to be massive, now as outmoded as our own dear Millertime (haste ye back). What else? Its all this CAMRA "nettle ale with a streak of piss" on offer now! Thanks God for German imports. 1 Link to comment

sigh
do folk still order a Black and Tan? Or is that racist nowadays or snakebite? I do miss a pint of 70 or 80 shilling Link to comment
Ten Caat
Remember as an underage drinker (16) going into the local disco (they weren't called clubs in 1983) in time for happy hour. Ordering up 10 neat vodkas and 10 creme de menthes and still getting change out of a tenner. Mixed them together back at the table, was like drinking mouthwash but did the job admirably. And then tasted relatively pleasant throwing the lot back up once home at about 3am Link to comment

Served many an Export or Ember, accompanied with a glass bottle of Sweetheart Stout (for the patron to pour into their pint glass laden with heavy beer as desired) during my bartending years. Black Russians and White Russians were also purveyed. No racial connotations were implied or thought of whatsoever, from the point of the customer's request to the delivery of goods and completion of service on behalf of the hostelry I was employed by. Matt Armstrong's Dog
Carlsberg Special Brew, in my experimental days, was the beer of choice. Link to comment
DD1903
Is Kay cider still a thing? Spewed everywhere after drinking several cans of that as a 16 or 17 year old. Returned to merrydown after that. Link to comment

Were a nice wee change from miller or Bud, which seemed to be the only things you could get in some pubs Link to comment
sigh
Remember going through a phase of drinking Red Stripe for some reason. The Newcastle Brown phase was short lived. Never did the Grolsch thing. Link to comment

manboobs109
You still get 70 and 80 in plenty pubs. My local sells loads of 80. Link to comment
The Buzzard
Labbatts Ice was good. Bottles of that before lining up to get into the nightclubs no d hoping not to be ID'd. Always the unwritten rule that you paired up with another safe bet mate for getting in. And if any mate ahead of you got knocked back they were dead to you at that moment. Not even an acknowledgment of them as they walked back down past the queue. Fres - that was like a blackcurrant drink popular with the ladies in clubs. Tennents SD was a cracker. Bit like a Caffreys if I remember. Becks - fucking loved it back in the day. Link to comment

Usually procured by some low-level distillery worker/alkie and typically shared out in a hip flask on bus runs/ staggers. Fuckin lethal. Link to comment
