I would expect that anyway tbh.

Assuming an opponent is going to be below their best is just daft.

As would thinking that saying an opponent “may well be jaded/fatigued” is the same as assuming they’ll be below their best.

Absolutely daft.

Remember in 2015 when we won our first 8 league games, then fell to pieces in October?

Won't happen this time. Probably.

Hey listen, I'm as cock-a-hoop with results as the next man/woman/child/thing. But if I'm being realistic, we've still got a long way to go to become consistent. Some great things going on, but you have to piece that together over 90 mins. I'm sure it'll improve, but so too, we're due a loss or a draw at some stage. I'm not fussed as long as we don't drop points by being half at it and we get beat by the better side, and the reaction to the next game is a positive one. Our mental toughness is, I feel, yet to be tested to the full.

Hearts have a very big squad of similar level players so they should be able to field a team that isn't jaded. It's no excuse when you have a huge squad like they do they should easily be able to field a minimum 6 or 7 outfield players at Pittodrie who didn't play in Minsk.

Minks in Minsk. Seems appropriate.

They dont have many options to change things at the back or up front?

Keeper and midfield they look to have plenty options

They had 3 defenders on the bench on Saturday. Shankland will obviously play in both games but they can shuffle things around him up top off the top of my head they still have Boyce, Dhanda, Spittall, Vargas, Forrest, Musa & McKay. A lot of those guys won't play in the european game & as you say they have plenty of defensive midfield options.

They can have no excuses on Sunday if they lose they've built a big enough squad.

We've won the last 8 on the trot at Pittodrie.

Their last win was 1-0 in a 2015-16 dead rubber in May.

Exactly it's 8 defeats on the trot they have taken 2 points from the last 33 available to them at Pittodrie since that dead rubber win in 2016. We took 29 points from those games. Hearts haven't taken a single point from Pittodrie since 2017.

Our record at Tynecastle is very poor too though no win there since doing a Tynecastle double over them in season 2016-17. We've had 4 draws since then but it's 5 defeats on the spin now at Tynecastle.

Definitely a fixture that seems to suit the home team.

We are a developing squad with some of our now first choice players being newcomers.  Molloy, Nilsen, Keskinen will all be learning about scottish football and the significance of different fixtures.

Others like Nisbet and Mitov know what to expect, but there is a group here getting to know one another's game.

Setbacks are inevitable but like you say there is also potential for improvement still.

Our limitations were exposed at Dens but agree we can yet improve.  Perhaps the most important thing to resolve will be selection dilemmas, I think JT will need to be desicive in who he promotes.

Do we play Clarkson and Mcgrath  together?  Should Palaversa start?  Where does Polvara feature?  Who are our impact subs?

You also wonder if Jimmy has an alternative set-up in mind as a utility to close a game out, or just surprise the opponent.  Gameplan A is working wonders, but it may become predictable as teams figure us out.

It does look like we can potentially win most of our games though and we have come a long way.

Team I'd go with.

                        Clark

              Kent Halkett Kingsley

Oyegoke Boateng Beningime Penrice

                  Dhanda Spittal

                      Shankland

Admitted zero pace anywhere and probably set up to be stifling, as physical as we can be, try to nick a goal.

Musa, Vargas and Forrest our only real pace options from the bench.

None of them would get a place in our team. End of.

With that back three I'd be starting Morris and Duk with Keskinen. Down to 10 men after 20 minutes.

You'd play Clark ???! even at 40 Gordon is better.  That team just looks like relegation fodder even on paper
