Motherwell got 1000 last season. Hibs about the same this season.

Seems an odd way to go about it if you're Elgin. They only had 1700 at the Hibs match so about 700 home fans only. Stadium must have been half full at best. I would have thought they would want to maximise revenue given it's not on TV. Struggle to think they will have 3,000 home fans even if it's a "derby" against us

Aye but Elgin won't have 3,000 home fans so seems a bit pointless.

It's not always about selling all the tickets for an individual tie though

The smaller clubs who draw bigger teams at home are balancing the potential finances against maximising their chances of getting through to the next round and earning 50% of another gate (potentially away to a big club which would be worth more than what they could earn at their own ground) as well as further prize money.

That would be quite a gamble by Elgin to refuse to sell say 2,000 seats at £15-20/head so turning down £30K-£40K, which would be a lot for Elgin, when realistically there should be minimal chance of making the next round

Exactly, the vast majority of lower league clubs always look to maximise ticket sales in the Scottish Cup, I can't think of one example of a team intentionally not selling as much tickets as they can in a cup tie versus a bigger team.

They're obviously confident they can attract their own fans then.

They're not obliged to give them to us

Some folk on here criticise clubs for handing over large parts of their ground to Huns and Celtic then seem to expect clubs to do the same for us.

Whilst encouraging our own club to cut away allocations at the same time.

Maybe they will, but they rarely get crowds of more than 800.

Should be announced soon anyway, so the bickering on here can end.

Their sales of their 3 game package for upcoming League 2 games will allow them to gauge how many likely home ticket sales they will get for the cup tie. Good luck to them for trying to maximise their income on the back of the cup draw. Could sell a live coverage of the game to fans who cannot secure a ticket to the game.
