Chester Don
An integrated community stadium at the beachfront is the credible option, build in a large amount of offices facing the beachfront and a hotel in the same location. The rent from hotel owners / office tenants will help subsidise the build. Hotel / stadium will be natural venue for conferences and weddings etc. Huge glass front overlooking the sea then we have an architectural marvel…. 1 Link to comment

We can't even afford to build a stadium on it's own but you're wanting us to build hotels and offices as well? Link to comment

ab24_5qh
Obviously the club had to give the beach community stadium option consideration, however, local government throughout Scotland is notoriously incompetent, so it was always going to be a highly unlikely option. Link to comment

Wester Hailes Skins
The main clubs in Scotland are Celtic The Rangers Hearts Aberdeen Hibs Dundee Utd All have avoided the trend of out of town, soulless bowls. Leaving their community. You'd be the first. And I genuinely wouldn't celebrate it. Link to comment
Zeus
Could dig up the stands one by one and plant it them back nearer the beach. Tart up the main stand in the process. 1 Link to comment

brownie
Cormack trying to do what they do in the US. Cities will pay for new stadiums or give teams massive tax breaks so that the team stays in that city. Not going to happen here. Link to comment

milne_afc
See if there’s no viable alternative, wouldn’t it be a good idea just to close the club down? Or rebuild the stadium one stand at a time? plenty of monied hingers on Link to comment

Dunty
Line from that statement puzzles me. "It’s never been our intention to build a stand-alone stadium at the beach." Why not make it your intention? If the council are scaling back her beachfront plans, can we not just ask for the land and begin planning a stand alone stadium ourselves? If anything, makes the project more enticing now we don't have some shit ice hockey arena attached to it. 1 Link to comment

That option remains on the table. It always has been. If Aberdeen FC wants to deliver to a football stadium at the beach themselves, we would be more than happy to sit down and see how we can assist them given the land ownership sits with the council. Fuck sake Cormack, no-one gives a shite about a community stadium. Go speak to your rich American pals, and get the stadium fucking built. 1 Link to comment

It's the Cooncil who can apparently spend tens of millions on UTG and a glorified playback at Beach so they'd soon rack up £4m on a few drawings and no doubt a bus gate/travel study and couple of other pointless studies Do you want a Community Stadium? Do you want it to house Aberdeen FC? Majority massively vote yes and Cooncil says f it we'll not bother Link to comment

And the best part of 3 years to resurface about a quarter of Union Street. Link to comment
