I'll be honest from the age of 18 I drank far too much, I was out almost every friday and saturday and some wednesdays, I realised it was getting out of hand when I was spending £100+ in Tonik on a wednesday when it's 69p nips, also spent £70 in Priory on a sunday (we beat Rangers I think) and it was all spent on jagebombs which were on a special deal. I settled it down a bit when i was 20 but then it got worse especially around christmas time I was out every night probably hitting 100+ drinks for each week for a month or so, go to local bar have around 20 drinks (pints, nips and shots) in to town have about 10 doubles in Tonik then go to a club but after a terrible night I stopped for a while, I met Dazzy deff off of here in Tonik, was meant to be going to see Judge Jules but I ended up getting thrown out of pearl, fell down the stairs and was found outside my house sleeping in the snow that was when i knew I had to calm down a bit so came off of the booze for a while.

 

In the last year I've only drank on saturdays (unless at a function or bbq) and slowly I've scaled it down to the point where I can almost take it or leave, so I'd say every third week of the last year I was going above the amount that is suggested, right now I'm off of the booze but will be drinking at the semi in a few weeks, then I'll easily go over the suggested amount.

10-15 pints if we had a midweeker with the dons / if not it was toon on a weds night for 69p voddies

Thursday dartts 10 pints 20 nips

Friday night - bye one get one free in charlies - 10-15 pints 10 voddies and some shots to go with

Saturday - away game 4 pints before the bus - 6-8 pints before the game 2-3 pints in forfar then toon till three so another 10 pints 10 nips?

Sunday - Whitehorse from lunchtime till 8 ish so 12-15 pints then too.

Since the Mrs has started going to away games my drinking has increased. Usually a half bottle of Vodka and another of schnapps or curacao between us, then however many drinks we have before the game. Sometimes out afterwards as well. I very irregularly had anything outwith the few before a game for the last few seasons.

 

I'd happily never drink again but I can't think of going out to a pub/club and not drinking. Sometimes it seems as though that's all that you can do for socialising in Aberdeen.

That would be about right!!!! Voddies were cheaper as it was 69p and £1 at the bowling club - 50p a tinny of juice to wash it down. £2 a pint at home games on a monday helped a wee bit

 

Noticed a huge difference in money when i stopped playing competitive darts in particular on Sundays / Mondays at the white horse.

While it is a lot per week / month, its still less that what many will spend on a weekend out Fri and Sat in the / a city pubbing, then clubbing. especially of they are partial to the nose candy.

 

Then we have Mini and his Wednesday nights in Tonic to go along with his gambling exploits.

 

Aberdeen wages makes this sort of antics sustainable.

When i started going into town i drank like a fish.

Friday's, Saturday with my mates from School.

When i got my flat in King Street at 22 i was out all the time.

Wednesday night for the cheap drinks, thursday night, friday night, most of the day saturday if aberdeen were at home and then sunday afternoons to watch the football. Monday and tuesdays off.

Fuck knows how i managed to afford it and pay a mortgage and run a car.

 

Calmed down a lot now and hardly ever in town.

Not even a regular drinker in KW or the Broadstraik now.

Will probably take my dog with me if i go to the Broadstraik.

Bowl of water and he's happy.

Do a lot of my drinking at away games now.
