Recommend skulling a few proseccos enroute in that case. Are you kicking about near Venice for a bit?

Venice itself is a bit shite for staying in for longer than a day trip. Though if your skinning it straight off its not a worry.

We're planning on getting the train through to Venice from Desenzano for a day trip. Means we can both enjoy a drink and head back late into the evening.

Sounds good like! Dunno if you've been but Venice is a bit of a maze it's worth downloading maps to your phone before.

For food would really recommend Da Mamo. There's some right shite in Venice but there is maybe the best pizza I've ever had (there own one). Worth a look if nothing else.

Worst advice ever.

Agreed, there's lots to see. The Churches are amazing, as is typical in italy.

I really liked the horses on St Marks Basilica (the originals are actually inside now, the ones outside are copies) taken as a trophy after a Crusading army sacked Constantinople. Napoleon stole them for a period but they were returned after his demise.

The Basilica is amazing, but undermined by the large streams of loud tourists filing through constantly. One pleb was even talking on her mobile phone when i was there. Argh!

Its a nice city just to walk around too.

Heading to Italy in September and looking to hire a motor for a few days.

Anyone any experience of hiring in Italy?

Read an article yesterday regarding scams with hire car companies in Europe and upon doing my own research have found some very dodgy reviews of the car hire companies in Italy.

I'm an Avis Preferred member, but wanted to see if there was a cheaper deal out there.

Swaying towards paying a bit extra for a bit of peace of mind.

A bargain may not always be a bargain.

If you are a member of the British Airways executive club, you can rent a car through their website (you get an Avis car) and automatically get fully comp insurance.

You could probably get a car for £100-£200 for the week.

Check their web site and their T&C's though as it might have changed over the last few months.

Will have a look at that shortly.

They have the internets there Raz. Keep the thread up to date with training experiences, beers, high jinks etc.

Where about are you staying?

Unlikely. I'm going to a training camp with other like minded athletes. It'll be water and kale smoothies for cocktails.

Aye Vancouver is a great place, you'll love it.

Yeah it looks like it'll be right up my street, a mate of mines has just moved out there so will be chilling with him.

What does this mean?

In each casino you get players cards, you get points for each $ you spend, the more you spend the better the chance of moving up a level you have which brings more discounts like show tickets, free meals, extra night stays, resort fees getting waived, it all adds up and I hope to go each year and build it up so I can hit a certain level so each year my stays get longer but cheaper.

Just some gambling gibberish mini likes to come out with to make it seem as if he's a high roller, when in fact he's picking horses names out of thin air in his mum and dad's spare room.

It's amazing how clueless you are, I don't pretend to be a high roller, I probably never will be a high roller but when over there I'll be taking a fair bit of cash and throwing it around.
