V for Vendetta
Would love to see the club operate a real buy to sell policy but they just don't have the people at the club needed to do that. It can't be done by the manager- needs a proper scouting department and head of scouting/director of football or whatever to focus on that angle leaving the manager to get on with the other stuff. Also needs some very good senior management within the club and not sure Fraser for example is really that type. Lastly of course needs the "seed" money to get started.. Link to comment

V for Vendetta
Mckenna is your seed. No answers for the rest Yep, most likely. I just described it that way because with the sort of wealthy people we have involved at the club they could actually loan the seed money and recoup it in year 3/4/5 as we sell some players. Lastly of course needs the "seed" money to get started..It’s a really difficult business model to get right though at our level. Celtic can play these guys in the Champions league for a couple of seasons and an English club will be willing to pay a premium after seeing that player deliver at a higher level than the SPFL. Anyone will value a player more if they can perform well under more pressure. Few players outside the old firm go for more than £1m (excluding home grown players with talent clubs like us would struggle to attract if they were playing elsewhere), so signing someone for a decent amount would be a big gamble. With the lure of a massive pay rise elsewhere, we would also really struggle to extend a good young players’ contract after paying for them. McLean is a good example, we paid money to secure him, yet as soon as he fulfilled his potential it made sense for him to let his contract run down and triple his money in England. For that reason I think we need to pay a fee that we can at least determine was worth paying to secure a good player for the contract length. 1 Link to comment

Getting past Burnley in leg 2 would help sell. Link to comment
G31DON
I don't like the concept of selling him to Celtic and then going out and acting like you are going to compete with them. I feel like the wolves make a ton more sense if they liked what they saw. Above a poster mentioned celtic liked to buy for a few million and sell for a profit. I sure wish aberdeen would take on that flipping business model with young prospects from Latin America and Africa. But back on topic pls sell the kid down south. Should have signed Khalid Aucho. Aberdeen actually has a nice platform too to showcase players. Getting past Burnley in leg 2 would help sell. We've already lost that match, unfortunately. Link to comment
The_Next_Legend
Some lad Chris Mepham is under a 15mill bid from Bournemouth at the moment. He is 21, Welsh and plays for Brentford, has 4 international caps, has made 34 first team appearances. Scott McKenna is pretty much exactly a year older, has 8 international caps, 50 apps for Aberdeen with another 33 while on loan. This should be the template for us looking to get money for our prized assets - fair enough an english to english transfer is always going to rake in more money but we should be looking double figures in the millions at least. 4 Link to comment

The difference is that they tend to inflate transfer fees between English sides. When it comes to buying from Scotland, they will usually star incredibly low and throw in some Haggis banter to sweeten the deal. Link to comment
Parklife
Some English lad from Brentford also has the premium of being classed as "Homegrown", which EPL clubs must have a certain number of when naming their 25 man squad. Link to comment
Clydeside_Sheep
Blogger PMG touting Mckenna to sellick for Hayes plus money. No chance of that happening (I hope). Much better to keep developing McKenna, and seek to insert a sell-on clause when selling him to some english mob later. 1 Link to comment
